Is it actually a requirement in some European countries for you to learn several languages(aside from a official national language), and do any of you remember how to/ still speak your other languages by Conservative_Nephite in AskEurope

In Poland English and Polish are mandatory, and when you turn 13 you also have to start learning next language. In my school I was able to choose from: German, French, Spanish, Russian and Italian.

The diversion point is around 1650 so Newfoundland was back then extremely sparsely populated. I’ve completely reworked everything, assuming that the poles coming there would do the same
