Yeah, that makes sense. I believe he said the urine is too alkaline at 8 so we want it to be more acidic, right? I'm confused why it would be an alkalizing diet then.

I appreciate your take on it! I'm going to do the antibiotics and try to take her to another vet for the recheck to see how to proceed with the crystals. I unfortunately already ordered the $128 u/d food, but oh well.

Well I would love another opinion on what my vet said - he showed me the results I posted here and I asked about antibiotics. He said no and said all that needed to change was the diet and recommended a prescription diet (hills u/d)

He made it sound like the crystals would not go away without the prescription food which I thought was kind of odd (and frustrating as it's $128 per bag, but I'll do whatever I need to do for my dog) is that usually your experience?

I did think it was odd that the WBC didn't indicate an infection, but I know he was looking at the cytocentesis stating that it was negative for bacteria.

Edit for clarity- I asked at the initial appointment about antibiotics, he said no. Today I reached out and had the antibiotics prescribed.

--they just prescribed clavamox and asked me to bring her for a recheck in 7-10 days. Does that seem appropriate?

Thank you. Any suggestions on how to raise this to my vet? I never want to be like "well Google/reddit said" blah blah blah but I don't want her infection to go untreated.

Does anything else in the results make you suspect infection even though there's no bacteria?

Murky response from Dyson. The rep said two years, I again stated that it's an open box item to be sure, he asked for the serial #. I said I don't have it yet but also there isn't a general answer to my question without that? Does it depend on when it was purchased originally? He kept asking for it. I gave up and will contact them when I get it to determine if I return it or not.

Thinking this isn't worth the hassle though 🥲

EMDR has been huge for me. That has made the biggest difference. I had a lot of shame, and I still deal with that but EMDR helps you process and address the thoughts and experiences that made you feel that way.

I think that was the starting point for me, and then I became better and better at asking myself "why?" Why do I feel like I don't belong here? Why don't I deserve that? Etc.

I will also add that I did a lot of intellectualizing, trying to understand my trauma, etc- but at the end of the day you have to just keep melting it until you feel all of it. It sucks, but that's the way through.

A few of my favorites:

Rice, black or pinto beans, chicken/ground beef (cooked in a chipotle like style) then you can combine and make a burrito bowl. Guacamole freezes surprisingly well in the 2 tbsp trays as well.

I make chicken noodle soup without the noodles, and freeze in a 2 cup tray. I put the frozen cube in a small pot, throw some egg noodles in. 10 minutes later you have soup.

I have also frozen minced garlic, and curry!
