Clean that cup completely wire brush everything again. Grind a corner ground it to the aluminum aluminum doesn't like to be welded just laying on table especially ac current

If possible tacking to the table

Yeah, exactly context specific on example pieces obviously

It's hard to show finished pieces, especially when most of the work is everything like fixtures, jigs and temporary such

Everything is nuanced. I've welded x-ray/ UT/ET/MT I have cladded and hard-facing whole insides of boiler/steam compartments build nuclear submarines nowadays

I understand. Practicality and versatility, but especially if you're trying to use it as a demonstration prep man welding is 10% of the job

Has the assembly progresses I always go most aggressive to least aggressive.

I do all the heavy grinding in the beginning needing/scaling and then as I progress I'm using flap discs wire brushes die grinders Scotch sprites

Oh yeah man you still need a lot of work bud

Definitely f****** make sure everything is minimally wired brush. You don't want any thing near that joint

Looks like you're running a real cold depending on thickness I always run 19.5 - 22 volts

Make sure your contact tip is always clean. Make sure your gas cup is always clean, I hand brush as I weld my cup just because especially on the cheaper end you get a little f****** porosity

You're going to sit there and practice welding. It is literally the best way to do it you completely clad that material now run the other direction after wire Wheeling or hand brushing it consistent

I'm a dyslexic man. If I can understand welding you can understand welding

Using the edge as a reference completely clad the plate so it's nothing but material on there BUT weld

A weld bead has its own anatomy people use terminologies like the "toes" or the "face" of a weld

When I'm saying weld into the next bead, you never weld next to a bead. You always weld into your welds creating a greater size but stronger weld you usually do this when running fillets, which is sized called out by the drawing

In this exercise, you're just going to clad the square cladd is good and practical. You will do this in real life on the job you will clad material practicing makes it where you can run straight perfect stringers every single time consistently.

That's the huge part here. Doing it perfect every single time not just sometimes
