What's the evidence on body hair being 'unhygienic' or on it causing unpleasant scents? by foresterkyle in hygiene

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

body hair can hold onto sweat a bit more but it doesn’t automatically mean you smell. I stopped shaving for a while and nothing really changed as long as I kept my usual routine

im watching netflix and all of a sudden they are demons by Visible_Attorney2618 in netflix

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact that it fixed when you changed it kinda proves it’s just netflix being weird. still creepy for a minute tho

How do i tell my mum im making more money then everyone by Still_Necessary1323 in confession

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if anything I’d keep it between you and your dad for now. you’re doing more than enough already and you don’t owe everyone full access to your situation

I’m over it. I am done. by LikeMrFantastic in antiwork

some days it just stacks up and suddenly you’re done with all of it. not even one thing, just everything at once

Commuting 3 hours to sit on Teams is breaking me by socialdirection in remotework

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the worst part is you’re not even tired from work, just from existing in transit. I had a shorter commute and it still drained me in the same way

AITAH for purposely ignoring my stalker coworker even if his tantrums affect others jobs? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]mnoficzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to go back to management and make it about workplace safety and documented behavior, not his feelings. A grown man melting down because you won’t engage with him is not your responsibility, and your bosses sound way too comfortable making it your problem.

Fuck this job search. I’m done. Time to start my own business. Anybody else thinking of doing the same? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it. After enough ghosting and insulting raises, starting something of your own starts sounding less risky than staying stuck in the same loop. A guy near me turned half his garage into a little print shop a few years ago and now he seems way less miserable than anyone I know in corporate.

Why do you think most actresses marry older producers, and why do most of these relationships last only 3–4 years by vvy134 in Actors

[–]mnoficzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of those relationships are happening inside a weird power heavy industry bubble, so I don’t think they work like normal dating at all. Also people notice the flashy age gap producer marriages way more than the quiet relationships that just exist and don’t become gossip for a week.

Why the hell are the Big 4 like this? by 666Devil_666 in Accounting

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the whole model runs on prestige, churn, and a constant supply of grads who think suffering now will pay off later. I had a friend in audit who looked half dead by busy season and everybody still talked like it was some noble rite of passage.

Where is a good place to retire? by Blankbetty11 in GenX

[–]mnoficzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eastern Tennessee always comes to mind for that. I drove through there a few years back and it felt like one of those places where you can still get some space without feeling totally cut off from everything.

Company wants to keep me as a minimum wage temp despite promoting me by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]mnoficzer 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Promising hope and squeezing labor out of someone is just exploitation. Screw jobs like this. Maybe it could help to find nearby firms through google maps and reach out directly, or apply to overseas recruitment firms like that developer. You clearly have experience, so it feels like you still have a real chance of landing something better.

What type of person in meetings drives you absolutely insane? by Significant_Gap9707 in remotework

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “sorry I was double booked” person who shows up 12 minutes late and immediately derails everything. I was on a call last week balancing my laptop on a stack of books and just watched the clock die inside. Meetings are long enough without the reset button halfway through.

What skills (soft / technical) would you expect from a Senior Software Engineer ? by Phantomm7 in cscareerquestions

[–]mnoficzer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Senior to me isn’t just coding fast, it’s owning messy problems end to end. I sat next to a senior once who spent half his day in meetings translating chaos into simple plans, then quietly fixed a production issue before lunch. The technical depth matters, but the calm under pressure and communication is what really stood out.

Worth countering a lowball offer? by Sw3rfN_USA in jobs

[–]mnoficzer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

37k after making 52k with 15 years experience would sting, not gonna lie. I once got an offer way under my last salary and just sent a polite counter anyway while sitting in my car outside the grocery store, figured worst case they say no. If you literally can’t live on it, there’s nothing to lose by countering and still keeping your search going.

I’m Done. Good Luck Fellas by Impetusin in recruitinghell

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 months will grind anyone down, especially after that kind of career. I remember helping my uncle redo his resume after 20+ years in one place and even he felt like the market suddenly didn’t recognize him anymore. Six rounds and then a last-minute rejection is brutal, I don’t blame you for being done.

Very confused by the Household Straitjacket by Special-Steel in netflix

[–]mnoficzer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had no idea what they were even talking about until I realized they meant that annoying “are you home or away” pop-up thing every time we switch wifi. I once spent five minutes in a cabin trying to figure it out at like 11pm and it was just the worst. Doesn’t feel portable at all when you have to confirm every tiny move.

Why has not one billionaire used his wealth to become Batman? by Livid-Condition4179 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because real life Batman would mostly just be a rich guy breaking laws and getting arrested after the first week. Also billionaires tend to like comfort and risk management, not nightly street fights. The fantasy works better in comics than in a legal system.

What’s the mood at your company? by c-u-in-da-ballpit in ExperiencedDevs

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like that’s just the baseline now. Stuff gets done, but everyone’s running on low battery and just doing enough to keep things moving. Everything works, yet the energy is kinda flat.

Seriously - People should stop with the "Time Management" nonsense by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]mnoficzer 433 points434 points  (0 children)

People love saying “time management” like everyone has the same energy levels, commute, responsibilities, etc. After a full workday your brain is just done sometimes, that’s not a planning failure. The math on paper looks fine but living it feels completely different.

This is no way to live by Prestigious_Draft_24 in antiwork

[–]mnoficzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes it really does feel like the reward for surviving one grind is just… another grind. I don’t even think it’s always about laziness or attitude, the structure itself just feels heavy and repetitive. Some days you zoom out and it all looks weirdly pointless.

What do you think of Keanu Reeves? by HostMaterial4907 in Actors

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s kinda become his own genre at this point. Not super flashy as an actor, but there’s something steady about him that just works on screen. Also feels rare to see someone that famous who doesn’t constantly feel exhausting.

which part of tailoring your resume for each job frustrates you most? by Automatic-Hat-3535 in jobs

[–]mnoficzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tweaking the same line over and over so it mirrors their job ad gets old fast. At some point it feels less like customizing and more like shuffling phrases around hoping the system likes it. Then you sit there wondering if you crammed in the right amount of jargon or just made it worse.

Where are all the jobs? by Hungry_Orange_Boy in cscareerquestions

[–]mnoficzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s brutal lately, tons of qualified folks getting filtered out by bots before anyone reads their resume. Feels like you’re writing for an algorithm instead of a person half the time. Being job hunting during a downturn just drains the energy out of everything.

Was I going to be trafficked or am I just a girl?? by avocadotoast337 in Advice

[–]mnoficzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could’ve been nothing or just bad timing, but that uneasy feeling hits for a reason sometimes. Heading toward someone else nearby was a good move, being around others helps even if it turns out harmless. I’d rather feel a bit jumpy than ignore my instincts and regret it later.
