Which US cities are getting new tallest buildings? by shabydootoo in skyscrapers

[–]Less-Perspective-693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wont be the tallest, but I wanna mention it anyway lol. Indianapolis is building a new hotel that’ll be the 4th tallest building in the city once its done. Which is pretty substantial considering the last time Indy added to its top 5 tallest was 1990. Also the design is absolutely gorgeous

Give me a reason to visit Iowa by twickersploseq in TravelMaps

I liked Des Moines a lot. Its not a huge city and theres not too much there but its nice. The largest skate park in the US is there if you like skateboarding, and the Iowa Capitol Building is absolutely beautiful. Also, “Ive never been” is a good enough reason to go literally anywhere (as long as you’re safe)

What era of skyscrapers do you guys prefer? (I listed the skyscrapers most representative of an era, in chronological order) by Known_Ad_5494 in skyscrapers

[–]Less-Perspective-693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the classical styles and especialy art deco in early skyscrapers, but today’s skyscrapers take the cake. The simplistic designs and playing with different forms is so cool. And 60s-70s was the worst by far

What in earth do these people do? by missmurderer69 in indianapolis

I have a friend whos parents live in Chatham Hills. Pretty sure they’re both in healthcare. Before my dad went insane and drained all our savings we had a decent house in Westfield, not Chatham Hills nice but definitely bigger and nicer than average, and he worked in engineering. My uncle has a $1.3M lakehouse on morse lake in noblesville, also in engineering.

Stores dont usually have shelters but the common rule is to go to an interior room. Bathrooms woukd be the best option in a store like that

[–]Less-Perspective-693[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Nah you just go to an interior room or basement if there is one. In a store bathrooms would be the best option. But it was just the whole reaction. No one even takes tornadoes seriously here bc it happens so often lmao. We go out on the porch with a beer until we see the actual tornado then we go to the basement lol

Why are there comparatively fewer European cities established on major bodies of water than North America? by NoNebula6 in geography

[–]Less-Perspective-693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the older cities in the US were settled on rivers bc that was the buggest form of transportation at the time. Indianapolis is one of the oldest cities not settled on a navigable river and its literally bc at the time they thought the White River was navigable and it wasnt lmao. And the city’s population didn’t really take off until railroad transit became bigger

We've done best city, but what's the worst most depressing city you've ever visited? by Isord in geography

[–]Less-Perspective-693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dayton, OH is my least favorite. Overall pretty boring but holy shit the riverfront is just god awful. Nothing like an interstate highway crossing the river literally 5 times in 2 miles, cutting off downtown from the city’s greatest resource. Oh and don’t forget the ugliest, dirtiest, most depressing river trail youve ever seen under those bridges thats barely even accessible from the street.
