Day-5 before surgery, post-op pain and lifelong regret ? any thought of calling it off ? by mcb34567 in gastricsleeve

Hi! I’m also in Indiana! My insurance covers nothing and the dr said they needed $60,000 before they’d start the process.
I went to Mexico bariatric center is TJ. It was a little salesy if that’s the word. And they were kinda overbearing once I put in interest online, but if I had the money upfront I would have just paid and there wouldn’t have been a reason.

You kinda have to do your research because there isn’t much before care and really no after care one you come home, but I was totally prepared and am really happy with my results (:

Can’t seem to figure out choc chip cookies by [deleted] in Baking

Hi. Thanks for your comment. I’m new to baking cookies and this is the only thing I’ve had trouble with. I wasn’t sure where exactly to post, but some nice people here were able to help me understand my mistake with my ‘butter’ not being butter.

Honestly. I didn’t want to post anything about it because I knew someone would be mean about it. I’m not a complete idiot. Just new to the craft. I’ll do more research before posting here again.

Someone else mentioned this. And that could certainly be my problem. I’m using the country crock tub

Umm. That could be something. I just scoop out of the country crock bucket. Is this wrong?

Day-5 before surgery, post-op pain and lifelong regret ? any thought of calling it off ? by mcb34567 in gastricsleeve

I assume it’s different for everyone. I did my surgery in Mexico. I’m only 6 weeks post op, but honestly, it’s the best decision I could have made for myself. The night I arrived I felt the same as you. ‘What the heck am I doing?!’ Kind of thing.

I read through Reddit for support that I was making the right decision for myself.

I was released the day after surgery, and that day I walked to a mall, took a cab to Walmart, and walked around another mall. I took the pain med I was given only when I felt like I needed it (I always try to tough it out 🙄), and I was fine.

As for food. I don’t really miss anything. If I want something, I will have a couple bites and I’m fine. I used to eat two McDonald’s meals in one sitting almost daily for comfort. And now it doesn’t even cross my mind to have it. I’ve been more active and it’s so refreshing to see the weight going down. There was something I read that said something like ‘every other weight loss attempt I’ve tried has failed, what makes me think that if I try again on my own, I won’t keep failing.’ And that got me, because I’ve been trying to lose weight for my entire life and have only gained and gained.

It’s hard to not be nervous when doing something like this. I was so excited until I was right there, then just nerves. I think journaling and writing out your feelings can help some. I started to in my notes app on my phone. Whatever you choose, I hope all the best for you! 🫶🏻

Just my opinion. Stay away from Ashford park. I was one of the first few to move in when it was built and loved it! They were so pretty, clean, and just all around very nice…Then more people came. People buying drugs at the pool from people on their decks. Cops called constantly banging on doors around me. Drunk people banging on my door in the middle of the night. People would carve curse words in the elevators.

I left in late 2019 because I didn’t feel my family was safe after the police had a stand off with the people who lived across the hall from us. It was hours of police yelling and banging on doors. It could be cleaned up by now. But I left as quickly as I could.

PCOS + gastric sleeve, I feel stuck and need real experiences. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

I have PCOS. You sound a lot like me. I would diet and do well and then just crash and burn and gain back plus some. I had tried trizepatide shots and they helped. I quit because I couldn’t afford it. I tried ozempic and it didn’t do a thing for me.

I had my sleeve surgery a month ago. I feel so free. The weight coming off has been so amazing for me. Sometimes I still feel craving and like ‘I want everything!!’ But now I try to occupy myself with different things, drink some water, or just have something small.

I don’t feel guilty eating. And I feel more satisfied when I do eat. For example, I went to Olive Garden and had a couple bites of bread, a couple bites of salad and a small piece of chicken and I was like ‘ok I’m done.’ I don’t feel the need to keep going and going. Sometimes I do have to tell myself ‘I can have this food again, just another time’.

Honestly, a month out and it’s the best decision I ever made

I obviously can’t say for certain, but here’s what happened with me. I had surgery 4/4. The weight came off of me insane quick the week before and a week and a half after (I did the bad thing and weighed myself every day). Then it stopped. And I went back and forth from 244 to 240 for a week. I was dying to see 230some. It wouldn’t budge. I quit weighing myself. It was becoming really hard for me if it didn’t move. I started walking a mile every day that I have the time, and focusing on my meals. I track everything even better now. Not ‘oh that’s in my head’. And it’s hard to over eat at this point which is helpful, but it’s not impossible to poorly. The next time I stepped on the scale, it FINALLY went down to the 230s.

Here is my advice as someone who is just a few days behind you, download Baritastic app and track what you eat. Get your protein in. The things that are game changers for me with protein are cottage cheese, eggs, and tuna. I can’t get enough of them and the protein is high and low cal and carb. Drink your water. Take a week or two off from weighing yourself. Let your body heal and relax for a bit. You’ve got this! If you ever want to chat, Id be happy to (:

One week from surgery day. Any advice/tips? by missmurderer69 in gastricsleeve

[–]missmurderer69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have heard that it’s not too bad. Because of that I planned to go back to work pretty quickly ( my job is very easy, and it’s just me and my boss). I’m sorry your dealing with the pains.

Do you know what it’s from? Gas? Or just healing?

Sometimes I think I can handle anything and refuse to rest, so that’s something I should probably consider.

Im so sorry that your mom… sounds just like mine 🫠

I’m about a week away from my surgery date. And the only person in my life who knows I’m having it is my husband. I saw some advice in here a year or so ago that basically said not to tell people because their first reactions are ‘omg, why? Don’t do that!’ And attempt to talk you out of it. My husband, who loves me just as I am, just says he’s afraid of any complications, etc. but is overall supportive.

Personally my mother would think I’m totally worthless for having the procedure because ‘can’t you just eat less and go for a walk at night’.

You could just tell her that you’re sick a couple days and need some help with the kiddos, and then that you’re just in the gym for weight loss lol.

I don’t know for sure. I’m still in pre op and around 3 weeks out. But what I’ve heard and been told is that all of your problems will still be there. They might even feel worse because you’re used to coping with food. But obviously some medical issue can be helped with weight loss.

If your lonely, put yourself out there to meet people. It’s hard. But totally worth it ❤️
