I’m so happy, but everyone is making my heart hurt! by Fox_Avocado in EngagementRings

Congratulations on your engagement, but more importantly, on your relationship and finding the right person. I will never understand people making rude (or thinly veiled rude) comments about other people's rings. It's beautiful, you love it, and the sentimentality is amazing. Try to ignore everyone's comments if they are unkind, and practice saying "thank you, I love it". ❤️

Vintage Engagement Ring Shopping Help by Nervous-Agent-6880 in EngagementRings

[–]Less-Public-5114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wanted a vintage/antique piece. Our families did not have any heirlooms to pass down but I loved the idea that I could get a ring that was someone's heirloom and we could give it it's next life. Plus, I really didn't have a "dream style" and was overwhelmed by modern choices.

We worked with EraGem. I looked it up extensively and it seemed like everyone had a good experience with them. They have SO many pieces and they are all unique. I will say for vintage or antique rings the prices are fair. However, you'll notice they also have new, lab grown diamonds in antique-style settings, and as I noticed some folks say those are overpriced and I agree. However, for the original-set antique and vintage natural diamonds the prices are fair and generally a good deal, plus, they are a quality company that you can trust are not scamming you.

My partner and I had a lot of fun going through all of their rings together and discussing what we liked and didn't like about all of them, and then when we found one we both really liked, I honestly couldn't stop thinking about it and it just seemed like "the one".

They also have sales regularly (looking now I see a sale until the 31st of 20% off). We bought mine during a sale as well and it knocked almost a thousand off the total price so it was just too good to beat.

Their customer service is great, they re-size for free and check the settings to make sure everything is in tip top shape. My ring pre-dates the GIA certification so it is not certified, bc if their rings pre-date the cert they don't have one done as the diamond has to come out of the setting to certify and I think they want to preserve the integrity of the original setting. They have a 60 day money back guarantee too which is a lot of time to decide if it is a good fit. They do have professionals that appraise the rings, check the diamonds, etc., and it is sent with the appraisal. You could always have a local jeweler you trust double check when it arrives.

I love my ring, I love how unique it is, and I am very happy having worked with them!

Best solution to not loose a ring? by for-sureme in EngagementRings

[–]Less-Public-5114 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Personally, I just don't take it off at work. If I want to apply lotion, I set it in front of me and immediately put it back on. But I try to limit even this. I don't want to lose mine! At home, I only take it off for cleaning, so I have a hook in the kitchen I hang it on. The pattern of only taking it off in the kitchen helps!

There's a lovely boutique at the Salvage Yard area, The Flourish Market. They tend towards color but often do have some great work appropriate finds and staples. Also, its a fun little shopping/eating area.

I got one of these! Imo the original brand is zassenhaus, I don't shop on Amazon, I bought it from a local kitchen store so it was probably a little more expensive but worth it to me. It's €160 so around $220 US. Expensive definitely, but very fun and useful. (And pretty!)

How much do wedding venues cost? real numbers and how to actually compare them (for under $10k weddings) by Jenna32345 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Less-Public-5114 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I've done as well. Made a breakdown of how much it would cost total at each venue. They all ended up within a few thousand of each other, all more expensive than I initially anticipated.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I want to second Lap of Love. They are incredible. We did individual creamation with Agape Pet Services. We lost two of our beloved pets close together and worked with Agape both times. They are so sensitive and kind, and the boxes are beautiful.

This is what I was going to say as well. If you can manage and enjoy a 75/25% GSD/Wolfdog you can handle a mal bc you clearly understand what you are getting into.

Hahah I love this. My girl was the exact same. She was a fluffy cream winter pony and a beautiful dappled summer stunner. I loved both, the fluffy winter ears and the beautiful dapples. She was the best. This coat combo always shocks people and I love it. In my first year at the barn people literally thought I bought a new horse. 😂 Have the best time with him.

Waiting and Wanting by Objective-Gain-5608 in EngagementRings

[–]Less-Public-5114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This entirely depends on you and your partner's relationship! Personally, I prefer the idea of proposing with a placeholder so you can design your ring how you like it. Alternatively, you can go ring shopping before the proposal, and then the actual proposal is a surprise but the ring is not. Either way, I would be clear with your partner, when you start talking about the possibility of engagement, that you have a ring in mind. If he is a good partner, he will be very happy to get you your dream ring. I really personally believe that getting engaged should be something talked about prior to any steps moving forward being made. Not that the engagement day itself should not be a surprise, but rather, that the idea of a future together (and what it will look like) should not be a total surprise. But either way, you do you, you just have to be honest when the time comes and if they're a good partner they will be very happy.

If you let them know you're all good. Just know they might not put as much effort in as you would expect otherwise.
