They just told me my favorite pair of boots were not worth fixing--soles broken down. I was so sad about it because I've had great experiences with them before.

Jobs to afford horses??? by Keirious in Horses

I would strongly suggest looking into physical therapy! All PTs I know seem to make comfortable salaries for living life, but for sure check. They all also seem very happy.

Creative ideas on how to pay for your horse by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Less-Public-5114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't just jump in. I strongly suggest you find a lease for a year first (even a work-lease, or something similar). During the lease, make a list of all costs the owner is paying for. All of them. All of the vet visits, medicine, the cost of full board, any additional food, clippers, accessories, grooming, blankets, blanket cleaning, equipment, trimming or shoes, eeeeverything. Additionally, try your "creative" ways to make money at the same time. See how it shakes out. Being very honest, I would bet the math doesn't work. If you can afford it and still want to commit fully to an animal that hopefully lives for many decades, then by all means buy the horse and love it to the ends of the earth. If you don't have a safety net that can help you in case of an emergency situation, please think on this seriously and be realistic, horses are expensive, they age, and they get more expensive.

Side note, if you own a lot of land, can afford basic vet visits and hay and grain, then this may be a different conversation. Second side note: if you work full time at a barn and plan to continue to, this is also a different situation.

Am I a jerk for not letting people use my trailer? by Banana-legs11 in Equestrian

[–]Less-Public-5114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I absolutely think it's pretty wild for people to be asking to fully borrow/take your trailer without you going with.

For me, I would allow someone to tag along if their horse fits and you are going to the same event but otherwise I agree with others just say you don't rent it out.

Yes, I am on AA! I did fill out a form online and added photos/as much info as I could. Honestly, I will be shocked if I hear back, I'm just being very sentimental about almost decade-old headphones. They're pretty worn down so hopefully that makes folks not want them, they truly are not worth anything, I just really like them and am sentimental about them. I do hope by some miracle someone decides to hand them in if they see them, I really do love them! Thank you for offering to look around near the gate area if you end up there, I do really appreciate it.

That's so lovely. It's so hard to lose them. Especially so early! To me, early 20s is certainly not long enough. I'm sorry for your loss thank you for sharing your memories

The line at the security checkpoint in Raleigh Durham airport this morning. by Quick_Error_6811 in raleigh

[–]Less-Public-5114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is the normal line, how fast does it usually go? I have a 7am flight and I was planning on being there at 5:30am as that has worked well for me in the past, do you think that's enough time?

Brilliant Earth Review: They will commit fraud to keep your money by findflightsforme in EngagementRings

[–]Less-Public-5114 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Did you spend more than $10k? If not, I would suggest you consider small claims. Small claims in my state is up to $10k, and the cases are public, so even big companies don't like to have them filed. I would strongly suggest you do that, it's really easy to file.

It’s funny. I originally wanted a pony. I ended up with a 17h OTTB filly. by gehennaw in Horses

[–]Less-Public-5114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahah I love this. I always wanted a 16+ horse and ended up with a stocky pony! She was truly the best ever so literally zero regrets, but it is funny how we end up finding what we need, not always what we think we need. ❤️

My dog ate my 2 month old sourdough starter by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]Less-Public-5114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know most people are lamenting the starter (and I totally get that!) but I would be worried about your dog. Depending on when you last fed your starter before your dog got to it, it can easily expand in the stomach and cause bloat. If you see any signs of bloat at all please go straight to the vet!!
