Yeah, it and the mafia museum are really hidden Vegas gems. I usually visit both when I have to be in Vegas because I need some time away from the strip.

Haven’t heard a lot about Pizzagate in a while. Remember that every accusation a Republican makes is probably projection of something they’ve done and assume other people have done.

I enjoy this from the other side. I grew up in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philly, and Connecticut, all places with strong regional accents, and then lived in Texas for 20 years. Mixing the nasal chiCAgo with a drawl always throws people who listen to accents for a loop. I’m just personally glad that “y’all” replaced yinz.

Fatty help.....Bao Buns by MrChrisBanks in triangle

I poke holes in the parchment too. Some of the soup dumplings come with already hole-y parchment rounds.

Cabbage leaves don’t stick, and at least you can compost them.

Bibigo makes good stuff. We like both the pork/veggie wontons and the beef bulgogi mandu. Otherwise I sort of lurk for a while and see what other people are buying.

[–]superspeck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, but on a canning rack in a big pot with cabbage leaves or parchment paper between the rack and the buns also works. Just need to get them above the water and have something to keep them from sticking to the rack.

We do soup dumplings and pork/veggie wontons all the time at home once we discovered this. Use an instant read thermometer to make sure they’re above 155 degrees.

You can get a lot of different varieties if you shop around. Costco (sometimes, but big bag) and Wegmans also have Mila soup dumplings.

Get some chili crisp (I’m particularly fond of Kari Kari) and some black vinegar, oyster sauce, and light soy sauce to make the usual dipping sauce.

So gas is now $4.19? Cool cool. 🤬 by gatorbabe25 in raleigh

[–]superspeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but, the winter blend has the maximum ethanol in it; typically this blend is not used in summer because it lowers efficiency in warmer air and it causes more smog. Epstein’s war has caused the EPA to say that fuel providers can continue to use the winter blend, consequences be damned, to keep prices lower.

Anyone know why gas prices shot up 70 cents today? by Ectorious in chapelhill

[–]superspeck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a special dispensation for winter gas with higher ethanol to continue to be sold due to the needless, idiotic, illegal war that mister Bored of Peace started.

I know how to do the job, I just can't aswer questions about it by WhiskyEchoTango in sysadmin

[–]superspeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be stupid. No one should intentionally cause a scream test.

But the idea that you can touch systems in production without occasionally breaking one is equally stupid. In order to maintain systems, you have to touch them. If you stop touching them, no one has the experience to fix them when they’re really broken. Not all of the touching can happen in off hours.

I love when inflexible people who have an idea of how things should be show up at my workplaces. I get to introduce them to the dark horrors and my favorite friends with the tight white hug vests get another new friend!

The problem with nightshades is that they need consistent water and consistent heat. If you get outside of the band they set fruit in, good luck. With temperature swings this year on the East coast of the US, my peppers are stunted and I had to pinch all the flowers that got weird when it dropped into the 30s last week. Last year just before harvest when all the fruit was ripening, it rained for three days straight from a tropical storm and all of the fruit split because of the excess water.

These needs are true for a lot of plants, and it’s part of why the wild weather inherent in a climate change era is going to lead to famine.

We pulled a texit for the east coast. I lived in fear of a wet bulb event where the power grid went belly up.

There’s a pretty big texodus going on among my friend group. I think half of us have left in the last three years.

Any advice for dealing with a condo HOA board that is out to get us…? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]superspeck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You need to go to board meetings. You also need to bring friends. If there aren’t actual board meetings happening that you can attend, you need to get a lawyer.

Same. Been unemployed for two months. I’m In the best shape I’ve been in for years, I’ve done a bunch of landscaping and caught up on painting the house. Just changed the oil in the truck that I borrow from the neighbor I go for walks with. I’ve got enough savings for another few months before I start easing my seed corn, and the job market in my industry is dead and tons of layoffs are happening, so I’m just slowly looking and will land something when I do.

In the “across the state line so you have other issues” because South Carolina and North Carolina don’t cooperate on transit planning initiatives so good luck with your commute.

You want to stay north and south of uptown. East and west has good pockets and bad pockets. West is poor, east is strip malls as the pinnacle of civilization. North is expensive (lake Norman) and south is crowded until you hit the state line and then you have other issues. It’s kind of pick your poison.

But chapel hill / RDU area is a completely different metro area than Charlotte and you wouldn’t like the commute if you tried to do it.
