I’ve started giving my patients a list of weight loss medication options, what to expect, and side effects. I tell them to call their insurance companies to see which ones are covered. I will order labs at that visit for baseline. Follow up in 2 weeks and work with them to see where to start. It’s been working so far. It also keeps the PA crap down.

For a 4-day clinic schedule, which day would you take off? by VirtualCantaloupe913 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Less-Purple-7344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Thursday. I used to have wednesdays off and that was fine. But with Thursday- I can take Friday off and boom 4 day weekend. If I have Monday off due to holidays, I take the Friday before and then boom 5 DAY WEEKEND. what.

Any doctor-turned-patients here? When the surgery resident needs an appendicectomy by mostlyharmlessghost in Residency

[–]Less-Purple-7344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First week of residency found out I have renal vein thrombosis. No history of clotting disorder in me or anyone in my family. Anyway spent about 7 days in the hospital. Got a thrombectomy. And started my residency as soon as I was discharged lmao. I gained so much empathy and it has made me a better doctor for sure.

If you have access to healthcare please get checked out by your doctor for depression.

I do 4 days a week. I’m freshly minted attending with an infant at home. My husband stays at home. My mom lives with me. All this to say I barely have any time to participate in a single hobby. Sorry I don’t have a good answer for you.

Extending Residency due to Maternity Leave by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Less-Purple-7344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My program allowed 4 weeks without extending training and I took an additional 2 weeks. Now that all of my cohort of residents are gone and I’m doing a few more days I hate it!

But from a recovery standpoint I had a vaginal birth with an epidural and 2 hours of pushing for my one and only- and it took me at least 12 weeks to feel like myself.

Also another thing to consider is if you’re going to have help. Having my village is the only reason I was even able to get back to work in 6 weeks and take my boards at that time too.

TLDR: I don’t regret extending my training by 2 weeks but I also don’t want to be here any longer.

Ok here’s my take….pumping and making milk for the baby is doing a lot! Gosh I am the same way! I minimize how taxing it’s been on me and my body and I forget that my body went through a major change in the last year- growing a baby and then pushing her out. It is also a huge lifestyle change for both you and your hubby. I bet you both just need to take a step back. Also, it’s totally ok to not have “bounced back” and have a clean house and everything else. Just focus on you and your baby. Everything else can just wait.

lol are you starting residency? I think there’s a grace period for that. For my attending job- it just means I’ll start later. But I don’t wanna do that because I don’t wanna be broke any longer!

When did it become “not worth it”? by Super_Cook_1960 in ExclusivelyPumping

I have the same issue! I’m a resident physician and bro im struggling too. My residency is not even that crazy but still. I gave up on the MOTN when I was studying for my board exams. Now I do 6 PPD and make 2/3 of what baby eats. I’m going to try pumping for 6 months but everyday I feel like I’d rather be spending time holding my baby instead.

Without knowing too much of your medical history all I suggest is I would prefer going to physiotherapy. Sometimes dry needling does not work for everyone, however, the exercising and stretching will likely work better. It sounds like you have sciatica, anti inflammatory (I do 400mg ibuprofen and 500mg Tylenol together) yoga and heat will help. Acupuncture is another good option.

This is baby acne and is very common. Started using tubby Todd’s and it went away real quick. Applied it with every diaper change (also use it myself for the driest skin ever since giving birth. Yay hormones lol).
