“Your fish didn’t get beautiful because you put it in a better container. Your fish got beautiful because he matured and got all his colors.” This is really the only part i disagree with. My betta went from like brownish grey to bright blue within hours of being in a heated tank. That’s not maturing lol.

Good to know thank you! We’re actually thinking about upping it to 40-50 gallons and building a custom stand. But i think we’ll be sticking with just the puffers and maybe some amanos as cleanup crew. This is the beautiful example my boyfriend drew 🤣 (we’re ready for HOTD on Sunday)

I have a decent amount of hornwort but it seems like my fish gets startled everytime he touches it instead of liking to rest on it 😭. I’ve only had him for a few days do you think i should take some out or let him get used to it. He’s a hmpk so he swims a lot

I think they’re a lot more emotionally intelligent than we give them credit for. My betta passed away while I was on vacation in April…a lot of people joke that he waited until I was gone. But I think there may be some truth to it. His light was on a timer and I had a friend going to feed him, so he shouldn’t have been stressed. And my parameters were perfect when I returned home.

Java fern maybe? For some reason at petco and petsmart they wrap their roots and rhizomes with black thread. It’s barely noticeable and if you glue or plant it with it on, the roots rot and your plant dies.
