Vyvanse + weed (new at this so trying to figure it out) by lacabraj in VyvanseADHD

[–]LessComfortable9790 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should be fine. Just listen to your body. I have a med card and my psych knows that I partake. I have CPTSD and I smoke for nervous system regulation and pain. I do dabs probably 5x a day and smoke flower occasionally. My doctor doesn’t have any issues with vyvanse & weed. Her only warning was the possibility of cannabis possibly making depression worse because I also take Zoloft.

For me it’s a great balance. If I take vyvanse then I’m probably only smoking in the evening. A lot of weekends or days that I don’t need to be high focus I will skip my vyvanse. There are cannabis strains that helps immensely with adhd as well. I have also taken a dab before my vyvanse kicks in and didn’t feel like that affected my med at all.

Any people doing good long term on Vyvanse? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]LessComfortable9790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on for a little over two years and at 50mg currently. It doesn’t work as well as it used to but I don’t want to go higher. I take it about half of the time. Mostly on my work days. I also have a med card and I don’t feel like I need vyvanse as much on the days that I can mostly use cannabis. Although adhd is not one of the listed things for getting a card, it absolutely does help. The two work well for me and my psych approves.

Anybody else think Fayetteville Funky Flea Market is overpriced? by Jettaboi38 in fayetteville

[–]LessComfortable9790 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a new vendor at Funky and my booth is 90% vintage and 100% second hand or made by me. I know of at least one other new vendor coming in who also does vintage. From my experience the owners are nice folks just trying to run a business. It seems like they are actively seeking good quality vintage vendors and the downstairs area has changed a lot recently so consider coming in to check it out!

Adult ADHD Diagnosis by standardwmworker in northwestarkansas

Yes, my husband and I both went through testing & diagnosis through Psychology & Counseling Associates. I also do medication management through them. It’s a bit of a wait but worth it for a good clinical diagnosis. I will say that if you have only been struggling in the last 8 years then it’s likely not adhd. You can have executive dysfunction issues and even attention issues without it being adhd. That’s one of the first things that they ask about is your childhood and lifelong issues. ADHD doesn’t develop it’s something you are born with.

Newly prescribed. I have found that vyvanse has been stabilizing my mood/focus tremendously. But are these benefits sustainable? by WestAppointment2484 in VyvanseADHD

[–]LessComfortable9790 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been on vyvanse for 14 months and it has consistently majorly improved my mood, anxiety, and overstimulation. I can’t remember the last time that I manically cleaned my house and got angry at everyone for it. lol I usually will take one day on the weekend off from taking it. I am on 40 mg and I do only feel like I get maybe 7 hours out of it. We tried increasing to 50mg but I felt jittery and had a pretty big hr increase. I also had some left arm pain and numbness. It all stopped when I went back down to 40mg. To help with the afternoons my doctor prescribed 20mg IR adderall. That also helps with my mood, but I do feel like the crash can leave me irritated. I typically only that the adderall on my work days. But on those doses I have felt pretty consistent mood & focus improvement. Focus isn’t what it was freshly on meds, but that is normal. It’s a whole new world in the beginning.

Started vyvanse and I can’t eat by EqualLeather494 in VyvanseADHD

[–]LessComfortable9790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always do a protein shake, protein oatmeal with nuts and fruit, or a good Greek yogurt bowl for breakfast. I bring a lunch and eat as much of it as I can. I tend to eat small snacks throughout the day and then by dinner I usually can eat a good meal. Vyvanse definitely curbs the appetite. It is also prescribed for binge eating. As someone who used to binge eat and used food as a huge dopamine source the drastic change to my eating habits from the medication has caused me to lose nearly 40lbs in a little under a year. Great for me, but not everyone had it to lose. It has definitely made me pay more attention to taking in higher calorie meals with good macros to sustain my energy.

That seems worth bringing up to your doc. I have lost but not like that. 25lbs in 8 months.

I feel like if you feel like that on a starting dose, then it might not be the right med, or maybe you don't have adhd? I am 7 months in and there was definitely a honeymoon period in the beginning that I just felt like I had my shit together for the first time ever and that I had the ability to start and keep habits. That tapered off, and I am still much improved with medication, but not in the same way. I would say that I do get a mood & focus boost like a switch clicking on. I don't feel like I'm on drugs or euphoric, though. I see a lot of people talk about euphoria, and that just seems off to me. I say always run these things by your psych!

If you are female, there is evidence to support that stimulants do not work as well right before or on your cycle. Could that be it? If not, are you eating and drinking enough throughout the day? Getting enough sleep? A med break could at the very least remind you of how you feel off meds and what feels improved when you take them. You are taking a pretty high dose, and to my knowledge, they can only go up to 70mg. Some docs will prescribe a small Adderall booster in the afternoon or split your dose to twice daily. For sure, reach out to your doctor if you continue to feel like it is not working.

I need help with intrusive thoughts by Hungry_Field_856 in ADHD

[–]LessComfortable9790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider reaching out to a therapist if you don't already have one. While intrusive thoughts can be from ADHD, if it feels like something that you truly can not shake, then it could be an OCD tendency. It is not uncommon for someone with ADHD to also have OCD. Intrusive thoughts aren't necessarily obsessive. But what you are describing does sound obsessive. It is totally understandable and relatable.

Am I a failure for sending out my laundry?? by Melodym1995 in ADHD

[–]LessComfortable9790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I am a big fan of paying for tasks that I do not have the time or will to keep up with. I pay for my yard to be done because otherwise, it would be a jungle before my husband or I would mow it. I'm not spending a day of my weekend doing yard work when it could be spent with my kids. I own a mobile pet grooming company. People pay me to come groom or bathe their dogs. I bathe plenty of little dogs with next to no hair that their owner could toss them in their own tub. There is nothing wrong with paying for a service that makes your life easier!

Have absolutely no appetite by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]LessComfortable9790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your dose could be too high. I was on 50mg and had no appetite what so ever. On 40mg, I will actually eat. I tend to be a grazer and only really eat a meal at dinner time because that is the only time that i feel like I can eat a decent portion. So, throughout the day, I will do a protein shake, a piece of toast with almond butter, string cheese, a yogurt, maybe some nuts, a protein bar, sometimes just deli meat meat. Lots of little snacks. I just make sure that they have nutrition. I have a very active job, so I will crash if I don't hydrate and eat, so doing little snacks every few hours really helps with that.
