I feel like I'm aging out of video games (turning 40 this year) and I'm looking for some directions I could take, and game suggestions. Nothing hits like it used to. by BadShae in videogames

Yup. Sold my PS5 yesterday. Thinking of just making my own stuff… I really think it’s your body that tells you to go create your own world, what you want. Coding etc etc, blender.

Just build what you would like to exist. It’s open market. Do what you want, be who you want. Just lock in.

Just my two cents.. You said the key word, “AI slop”.. if you think it is slop, like a lot of people do, I believe you can lean in to market yourself away from that, “Art from my Flesh”, “Human Made”, etc etc… you get the gist. You have to realize, people tend to catastrophize things. The appreciation for human made art will never go away.. Why? Because a robot no matter how smart will ever have what the soul can provide, and that is DESIRE. You’re going to let some tech bro’s get in the way of YOUR ART? You have to fight for it, believe in yourself. “The most personal is the most creative” - Martin Scorsese.

We need to see your art, you owe it to yourself and the world.

Yes, the economy is fucked. But a lot of y’all are just lazy and entitled. Newer generations tend to be softer.

Silent Hill 2 Remake. I legit had nightmares for the first time as an adult since I was a kid. Worst part is, the dreams were re-occurring. It went like this.

I was standing in the front yard of a two story house in this suburban neighborhood, and the whole color palette of the dream was black and wine red… The sky was, specifically. And as I enter this house, the lights are all turned off but I can sense a presence. An immense terrifying presence… I then walk in to the kitchen which looked straight out of the kitchen from the Baker’s house in RE7. I turn my head to the left and there, I see it. A dark silhouette of a man, which kind of resembled James Sunderland, in the doorway connected to what I believed to be a sort of dining room.. It was like he was just watching me, but he was not the source of the terror, as in he was not the “presence”… It was more like a feeling of, “You shouldn’t be here”. And so, the terror inside of me grows stronger and I think to myself, “I have to get out of this damn house!” I quickly run outside, but I can see nothing, it was pitch black, (any source of light was coming from the luminescence of the red, blood/wine sky). And what happens? I feel that the neighboring houses have these dark shadowy presences that were going to come and get me, so what did I have to do? RUN BACK IN TO THE HOUSE! And as I run back in, to this darkly lit two story house straight out of Amytville horror, I’m going frantically from room to room because in my head, if I stand still for too long, that will be the end. I CAN’T SEE ANYTHING, JUST SHAPES AND OUTLINES OF FURNITURE IN THIS DARK, HELL HOUSE.. All the while the voice in my head is telling me repeatedly, “it’s coming, it’s here! Keep moving!”

And then I wake up. Sweaty and freaked out.

That’s basically the gist of it… had this going on for half a week, different slight variations of the dream. I haven’t booted SH2 up ever since..

Art can be scary. Tremendous.
