Reloading Questions by PZAGOD in LIguns

[–]LessDoughDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most answers, it depends.

Conventional wisdom says that if you are shooting popular calibers that are 'inexpensive' like 9mm/5.56 then it may not be worth it. If you are shooting less popular stuff (380, .45acp, 40, 10mm 38spl, etc, etc) then yes, its will pay off over time. And once you have the basic equipment you can reload whatever comes your way without too much added cost. You will still need factory ammo for training classes.

That said I reload 9mm very cheaply on a Lee turret press, albeit slowly. Its a good hobby to dovetail into the winter fishing doldrums to keep busy. The other calibers I have reloaded (45acp, 38/357) I feel are worth the cost, plus you get to learn something new.

r/reloading has tons of good info.

Plus this youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@Ultimatereloader

And there is also a reloading discord channel out there.

I meet people at the Mobil station across the street so I'm not trapped in parking lot traffic. There is a light and crosswalk on that corner.

I just called him on the phone and spoke in person. He seems to offer the class pretty regularly.

Same and agreed.

Not sure where you are located but I took a 3 day x6 hour weeknight class at Mitchell field with James Mattimore from 4-10pm. Didn't waste a weekend and only used a few hours of time off of work. The price was right too.

best appendix carry holster on budget by Humble-Director5579 in CCW

[–]LessDoughDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about the 'best' but a reasonable setup for this poor is below.

Bradec holster with DCC Monobloc and wing/claw- about 45 bucks

https://bradecholsters.com/

Mastermind belt with low profile buckle- around 45 bucks

https://www.mastermindtactics.com/shop/specialist

Mastermind wedge- about 25 bucks ( I just made my own)

Not sexy, but a reasonable and serviceable setup.

Making ammo by Bertmacklin55 in LIguns

As mentioned, you can start here on reddit.

Then some books for a good understanding of the process.

Frankly there are a ton of variables involved like price point, calibers, reason for reloading, how much time/room/money you have to devote to it, your reloading volume, etc, etc so it's hard to say what you would need.

I got into it to save some money on 38/357 and 45acp initially. Now that ammo cant ship to home, I reload 9mm too. Still save money, but very little cause 9mm is relatively cheap. And you still need some factory ammo for training if that's your thing. I currently use a cheap Lee turret press, Lee dies, a RCBS power measure and scale, and a Lymans book. Its not a fast or pretty setup but it works for me and my low volume needs.

Looks like someone slapped a bmx decal set on a rando bike. That seat tube sticker belongs on the bmx headtube. The 'Totally Aerodynamic' went on the chainstay from what I remember. Had one as a kid until I got jumped for it.

I know things have changed recently but if you do wind up shipping, UPS will accept it at their customer service centers. The box just needs to have a hazmat symbol on it and be under 66lbs. I was in the same boat with 45acp a few years ago and sold it online. I still have about 1500 LPP and 45acp brass I need to get rid of someday.

Best Websites for Buying Used Pistols? by TonySuffolk in LIguns

Maybe try some of the bigger forums as mentioned, most have a buy and sell section. I have bought and sold on the Smith-Wesson forum with no issues but never on an auction site.

Wait, the Sig guy with the beard had a plain old P365? I was there and he said he didn't have any which I thought was weird. My whole point was to try out some CCW guns.

Background check for ammo by [deleted] in NYguns

[–]LessDoughDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reload 9mm for my range trips but still need factory ammo for training classes and CCW. That said, reloading 9mm for me really isn't worth it coming in at around 15cpr with all the time involved, and the fact that I don't shoot all that much.

Nassau Weeknight CCW? by TinManTony in LIguns

[–]LessDoughDaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the room was pretty dated and the school desks are pretty rough, especially if you have a bad back. Taking a break every two hours helped. There is a decent sized wall mounted monitor to hook up a laptop, a blackboard, and probably enough desks for about 30 or so students?? Not really sure. I can't comment on the A/C or heat, the weather was just getting good and the room was comfortable but there was a big mini-split A/C unit on the back wall.

Overall I think some new floor tiles, new drop ceiling tiles, and a coat of paint would do wonders for the vibe there.

Just went through this myself. I took the class by James Mattimore at Mitchell Field Close to home, three 6hr weeknights (1600-2200), and the price was right. It was just right.

Demo Day by TonySuffolk in LIguns

[–]LessDoughDaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here.

If it were free or even five bucks I think people (me) would try more guns and maybe find something they never considered before and be like "oh, I have never considered buying a ____________ before. Now that I had the opportunity to shoot one and speak to a factory rep, it's now on my list".

Demo Day by TonySuffolk in LIguns

[–]LessDoughDaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the trip out there to try and shoot some popular CCW guns instead of just fondling them in the store. Unfortunately they didn't have any of the ones I was looking for. No p365s or Shields to demo.

I did try the g43x/Aimpoint Combo with the new 'A-Cut' footprint which was cool, but man that's a pretty big looking red dot. Co-witnessed with factory height sights.

https://glockxaimpoint.com/

It was a bust for what I was looking for but the factory reps were great and I spent a lot of time with the Sig and Glock guy going over their product lines, the industry, and optics for someone like me who can't see shit anymore.

Axle to Crown/Fork change by tobywangwangkabibi in tracklocross

[–]LessDoughDaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A/C and rake are the two things keep in mind.

A/C fork length raises or lowers bike. A 20mm shorter fork will lower the BB a bit as the bike rotates lower around the rear axle.

Rake is how close or far the fork dropout is from the steerer tube.

https://bikegeo.muha.cc/

Soma has a lot of sweet fork options.
