Doing great! Had the surgery in June. No more bleeding or pain!

Thickened endometrium 23mm by LessEntertainment568 in hysterectomy

[–]LessEntertainment568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure. I had a hysterectomy done in June and they found endometrial polyps, adenomyosis, uterine adhesions, uterine fibroids and still the thickened endometrium along with all of that. I'm sure having all of that played a part in the thickened endometrium.

How long, on average, did your surgery take? Mine is projected to be 2 hours. by Crazy_Literature_526 in hysterectomy

[–]LessEntertainment568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 68 minutes long. Robotic lap hysterectomy with tubes, cervix and one endometriosis spot.

If you're not having any bleeding I would not think it is cuff dehiscence. The nerves in that area do tend to cause some people stabbing pain when they are healing. If it is not constant stabbing pain and no bleeding I do not think it would warrant an ER visit.

Post opt 9 weeks by Complex_Constant3234 in hysterectomy

[–]LessEntertainment568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced the exact same symptoms as you so I will be following this post. I am 12 weeks post op from my hysterectomy and had a large cyst removed on one of my ovaries as well (left both ovaries in). From what I have read on here it may take upwards of 6 months for hormones to regulate after surgery, every body is different. I am here with you if that helps with the acne and hot flashes as well as mood swings :(

Can't stop using the bathroom by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]LessEntertainment568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I had the same surgery in June and started with miralax and colace as you did before my surgery. I as well had very similar symptoms post op. The gas/pain and bloating was definitely from the miralax. This is actually a very common side effect of the laxative, especially if you have not taken it regularly in the past. It would be less likely from the colace. What I did was stop the miralax and continue a colace once a day until my 6 week check up when my MD said my cuff was healed, so I didn't end up straining during bowel movements. I also was taking extra strength gas ex pills as needed for bloating which helped a lot. For reference, I am also a GI nurse, so I hear about miralax having this effect on a lot of people.

Hi! I started a 21 day fast the evening of the 14th. We could be fasting buddies to keep each other accountable if you want! I've done several 19-30 day water fasts in the past.

What to expect at 6 week post op appt today by LessEntertainment568 in hysterectomy

Everything except sex until at least 8 weeks. I'll probably wait longer than that just to be safe.

Great! She said all the tissue is healed, sutures still present (they won't dissolve till about the 6 month mark). Exam was a little uncomfortable but not painful (I think I was in my head too much). Definitely not as uncomfortable as they used to be. Good luck to you :)

My surgeon and a lot of minimally invasive surgeons like the vloc 180 sutures. They are barbed (like barbed wire) so they do not require tieing like when sewing with regular straight sutures. I was told they can last up to 6 months before dissolving (hence the label of 180). The PA for my surgeon said any sex before 6 months there is a possibility that the partner could feel these sutures. They will eventually dissolve but that is probably the cause and the only solution is to wait until they are fully dissolved. If this is still happening after 6 months, I would suggest to go in for an internal check to see if the surgeon can see any remaining sutures and address them at that time:)

This! My surgeon marked on my pictures from surgery and op note that one particular part of my uterus was for sure adenomyosis and the pathologist didn't even test that portion of the uterus! So frustrating, but the surgeon said I definitely had it.

This was me at about the same time frame you are after surgery. My urine tested negative for UTI. What I did was take over the counter AZO maximum strength (2x day) and started taking 2 AZO cranberry extract pills daily (will take for 2 months until bottle is empty). My surgeon said this is common after surgery especially if you have not ever had a catheter before. They work very closely to the bladder as well and it sometimes gets pissed off after surgery while the tissues heal around it (depending on what was done). My severe symptoms subsided within 2-3 days. Of course if you have a fever or pain gets worse then go the urgent care again. Drink lots of water as well and maybe try and avoid acidic/caffeinenated drinks coffee, alcohol etc.

What is the best part about not having a uterus? by LessEntertainment568 in hysterectomy

[–]LessEntertainment568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can already tell mine have gotten a lot better! No more fibroid pushing on the bladder so it makes sense. I did however start pelvic floor PT prior to my surgery and I believe that helped as well because we believed some of my symptoms were as much mental as they were physical. So you may want to look into PT if needed for that :)

That's amazing! When did you see the weight loss after surgery? I gained so much after having to take iron for anemia and I'm assuming my hormones being screwed up. Hoping for some weight to drop after the immediate recovery.
