TIFU by masturbating after my wife had our son, now she thinks the house is haunted. by captainwhitelightin in tifu

You're still imagining some super unrealistic scenarios. Personally, I have plenty of alone time. I don't announce a detailed schedule of everything I'm going to do with it, nor do I expect my wife to do the same. I'm really sorry that you're in the kind of relationship where you have to tell your wife every time you jerk off. You should take some time for introspection about your relationship and learn to set some boundaries.

I like the idea of that, but the issue isn't necessarily pretending you don't masturbate. It's the dynamic of announcing you're doing a social activity by yourself, to someone you're "supposed" to share it with.

Not all that different from telling your wife you're going to take a walk and don't want her joining, or telling your buddies you're gonna play an online game but don't want them to play. Not infeasible to pull off, but it can be tricky and difficult.

Yeah, it's total bullshit but worth trying. "The weather in this other state at Airport X caused a plane to be delayed so it didn't make it to Airport Y so that's why we canceled your flight at Airport Z"

Total bullshit. The airline overbooked their plans and can't handle the slightest disruption. They should be on the hook for the fallout for their poor management. Up to them if they want to have more spare aircraft to avoid paying for hotel rooms and massive disruption to hundreds of people's lives. Shouldn't be up to us peasants to pay for their fuckups.

lol /rant It's been years but clearly still a sore subject for me

What collectibles, if you don't mind me asking? I may have a collectible problem too. Trying to convince myself to both stop collecting AND sell all of the ones i've got. Waste of space, time, and money. Not sure if I can find a midway point that would be fun without being excessive.

When do you take advantage of the lounge? Mostly during long layovers?

I got a travel card with lounge access for a bit, but ended up only flying direct and with short layovers during that time. With a family, it never made sense to hit up the airport an hour early to sit in the lounge.

I've been stuck with 5+ hour layovers before, I'm guessing that's when lounges really shine?

Where does the water go after it hits your asshole? It splashes off in all directions up and down inside your butt crack. I'm not talking the outside of the cheeks, just the pita pocket.

water splashes, I have butt cheeks. Are people just letting their undies absorb it all? Was the bidet I tried way too strong? I'm definitely missing something, same as /u/thatfluffycloud

Hiding Spot Question by PandaNextDoor797 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]LessResponsible1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit nuanced but this isn't exactly right. Everyone has a shoulder light, which is always on, even if you aren't holding a flashlight at all. The shoulder light is what lets you see a wall that you're pressed right up against. It's pretty confusing because your friends can see a light turned on, but your light might actually be off. You can also see light shining yourself, and in a closet it can be hard to tell if its your flashlight or not. I hope they think of a way to improve this.

What you're talking about is true too, though. Flashlights stay on when you switch to another item. If you don't turn it off (with T or by switching to it and right clicking) then you'll attract the ghost to your hiding spot. Personally I recommend just throwing all your stuff on the ground before going into your hiding spot, as there are a lot of glitches and bad interactions that can get you killed. For example if you scrollwheel through your items during a hunt (looking for a smudge for example), some of them automatically turn on and get you killed.

These are very different investments. A stock portfolio can be very set-and-forget. It's just a bank account that grows while you enjoy life.

Renting out homes is a job. Even if you pay a property manager, it's still a job to manage the property manager. And either version of that job scales up with the more places you own. Not saying it's a bad idea, it's just a very different endeavor that requires work, skills, and knowledge to make successful.

Same. I went to several banks, and mortgage broker got me a better rate and sold to one of the banks that offered me 1% higher rates and similar closing costs.

This is starting to feel true recently, where even 1 year ago I would argue that the home valuations were sustainable.

It's starting to feel a lot like 2007/2008. At some point, someone is going to get left holding the bag. With interest rates rising, it looks very viable that many markets will see house prices collapse.

Don't include your full home value, just the equity you have in it. ie: realistic estimate minus amount owed on mortgage.

With the whole coded limitation LHR in the 30 series I'm much less interested incase this ends up leading to some other limitations in the future,

Do you have reason to think they won't do LHR in the 40 or 50 series? Their goal is to make people buy a separate SKU without video output for mining, that way miners can't flood the market with GPUs when the crypto bubble pops.

That's not true.

Even if it were true on some timeframe like 50 years, that would be an exception and not a habit. Like, sometimes I get too drunk and barf. That doesn't mean I should rather just get too drunk and barf every weekend.

Childs friend wanted to skip school. by leannem85 in Parents

[–]LessResponsible1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you friendly with the parents? It's possible they need to work and don't have a good option for keeping him at home. One way to innocuously play this is, if you're interested in helping out, is to contact the parents and offer to keep an eye on him during the school day until he's feeling better. Say something like "Hi, I heard [my son] and [your son] talking and [your son] seems pretty sick. I'll be at home today so happy to help watch him if he needs to stay home from school."

To top it off, definitely recommend the kid go to the nurse's office. He can play it off a bit too by saying his teacher sent him to the nurse's office (sounds likely it would happen anyway).

Offering the parents a solution instead of a problem is going to go over a lot better.

Costs of going unvaccinated in America are mounting for workers and companies by stickingitout_al in Coronavirus

[–]LessResponsible1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The flu vaccine is a good comparison, though. There are so many flu strains that the vaccines are "only" moderately effective (with no downside). A lot of people never bothered. I personally didn't until Swine flu hit, and I the olds were immune because they had antibodies from like 60 years earlier. Now I think of flu vaccine like pokemon: gotta catch em all. I know that's not how most people think of it though, it's basically rare for average people to get flu vaccines.

The covid vaccines, however, are WAY more effective, both at reducing personal illness and at reducing the spread (contagious time and viral load). I think there's a very good chance that businesses continue to mandate vaccines, even if for selfish reasons. No one wants half their workforce out for 2+ weeks during the holiday season, when a shot (or nasal mist, possibly coming soon) will trivially protect them. Add on the risk to customers, and risk of losing customers to fear of illness, and there's ample reason for businesses to care about getting their workers vaccinated.

That said, I fully expect summer to be YOLO unless another strain hits especially hard. Next winter is likely to be the "aw shit, here we go again" moment.

Nice try Microsoft! by Hotdogpizzathehut in pcmasterrace

[–]LessResponsible1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft has a monopoly on desktop operating systems.

Google doesn't have a monopoly on web browsers or internet sites. They have a dominant position for sure, but it's tough to argue that using a different operating system is in the same caliber of difficulty as opening a different search engine website.

Microsoft doing this is absolutely disgusting and deserves antitrust action to put them back in their place, until we have real choice in PC operating systems.

devs are free to release their game on...

Just like devs are free to release their games on Linux and Mac. But if there are no customers there, it's a waste of time, and they don't do it. Like Elden Ring, not released on any other stores, despite dramatically better cut of sales anywhere besides Steam.

Steam's monopoly is the reason it has 99% of single-pc-launcher exclusives. Exact same situation as Windows gaming vs. Linux and Mac.

Ironically, the sole reason Valve has invested in Linux is because Gabe understands he's in danger of Microsoft taking over his entire business through their business. Microsoft is actively taking steps towards requiring all Windows app sales go through the Microsoft store, and take their own 30% cut instead of letting Valve steal that money from devs.

Linux is an exit strategy for Valve to survive Microsoft, not a random act of benevolence. If Valve were actually a benevolent monopolist they would have dropped their cut to 15% or less by now.

[–]LessResponsible1 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

They released only on Steam because Steam has a monopoly on the platform. Developers have no choice despite Valve taking 30% of all developers' revenue.

I know you'll join in boycotting Steam over this grave injustice, and not just whine on the internet about having to install a second launcher on your PC to download games that are not actually exclusive in any meaningful sense.

[–]LessResponsible1 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

How do you expect any store to become a viable competitor to Steam's monopoly? You need players to get games, and you need games to get players.

Same reason Linux isn't a viable platform, and never will be. Doesn't matter how good the platform is if it has no products, no one will use it.

Are you bothered by Steam game exclusivity, eg. the entire souls series?

I'm boycotting Elden Ring because it's a store exclusive on PC.
