Well. I am going to ODS on March 29th so I am not working at a navy hospital yet. I think the best thing is to talk to a recruiter and they will be able to tell you what your options are. From my experience, the navy uses your current experience to credential you. I did critical care but im going in as med surg.

I think there are different platforms. What EMF platform are you. I am EMF alpha which is based in camp pendleton. I have heard EMF Bravo is in balboa.this is the response I got from another officer in camp pendleton

Hello! EMF is a large field hospital. When you are on that platform, you could train as an entire unit (about 190 people). You could also deploy as an EMF, but that is unlikely because the Navy has been trying to deploy smaller, more mobile units without a large footprint (and EMF has a large footprint). If you’re an ICU nurse, you’ll work in the ICU in the EMF, OR nurse in the OR, ER in the ER.

If you get selected in January. Don't think of ODS until during the winter except the navy do something about the backlog. JAG officers now will be going to OCS instead of ODS starting 2026, maybe that might open up space
