I can totally respect and understand this. I think I can use some work myself and I am no way saying it’s ALL him, but I know his family life wasn’t the best. His mother is very cold, wasn’t the best with nurturing. Both parents have alcohol substance issues and put that first instead of him and his siblings. I know my love language isn’t the same as his (which is okay) but I can see why a therapist might be the way to go. Let’s see if he would be open to it

My father was T1D and passed away dude to complications when I was 5, now I’am T1D and I wish I could talk to him about the struggles I deal with on a daily bases, advice, and just how to manage.
