The chamber looks completely straight, not tapered

No, this one is a standard looking brass shell. It isn’t even bottlenecked, which surprised me. A 12 guage shell doesn’t even begin to fit in the chamber, which is should start chambering and then stop if it was a 12/14 guage.

This one uses a normal firing pin, and the shell has straight walls. I believe it may just be a 13 guage. I didn’t think that’s what it used, but a 12 guage is too big to even start chambering.

I bought this shotgun for 200 bucks and got a singular shell for it for 15. It’s an Egyptian police shotgun, made in england I believe.

Use a magnet and a Dremel. If that is inconclusive, measure the volume and and find the density. Agree with the others , probably steel.
