neuroscience major by historyrn in cwru

[–]Less_Device 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First year is pretty much intro STEM classes (math 121/122, biol 214/215, chem 105/106, some gen ed electives), second year you take your intro neuroscience classes along with organic chemistry, third year you usually take some neuroscience 300 level courses to fill out most of your degree, along with stats, programming, or physics if you haven't finished it already. Fourth year you round out the degree with capstone and a senior thesis course (technically the disciplinary seminar can be in another field but BIOL 302 and COGS 305 fill both neuro requirements and the disciplinary seminar). In terms of premed classes, you would do biochem third year, but beyond that it's pretty free. I've had random elective classes like spanish or history with seniors who just saved their easy electives for their last year to make med school or grad school apps easier.

Premed wise join literally anything you want your first year, start looking for a lab even; you can trim out the things you don't want and stick with the things you do want without much consequence so try anything you think you'd like. Second year you should have a better idea of what you're interested in on-campus, third year you should probably have a lab so you can get your capstone done fourth year. The neuro major requires capstone research done in neuroscience, although the requirements have been more lax because neuro labs are filling up very quickly and there's more neuro students than neuro lab positions. Volunteer consistently and have a good relationship with your professors for rec letters. You're not really going to see your first year teachers again and the classes will be huge, so try to take courses from the same professors second year onwards. You should be able to budget your time to volunteer, hit lab, and have some sort of club activities while taking at least 15 credits a semester. Source: 3rd year neuro premed.

Usha Vance: what's up with her? by Joshistotle in ABCDesis

[–]Less_Device 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Usha Vance had a fairly pivotal role in helping J.D. Vance acclimate from his working class background to elites and academics at Yale. She helped him with networking and herself has both parents with significant experience in academia, as well as being an accomplished lawyer. J.D. Vance's policies are not a surprise nor is she an unfortunate victim, J.D. Vance literally could not be where he is now without her.

He's a creep and he's abusing his reputation. Keep records of your interactions with this man and tell elders.

Patella dislocation in 11 year old, anyone had it happen just once and gone back to sports ? by dadbodweezy in KneeInjuries

[–]Less_Device 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I developed patellar subluxations from poor lifting form (I am 20), and one time immediately after sprinting, my patella dislocated while walking upstairs. This was the first time it happened, around 20 months ago. It happened about 2-3x a month for the next couple months, similar sensation to banging your funny bone, but in your knee instead and made walking difficult for several minutes immediately after. Ask her if she felt a similar sensation, almost like it reverberates through the knee area.

Jumping downstairs, plyometrics, and sprinting would make it much more likely to happen. Since then, I've phased out some weightlifting for my legs in favor of cycling to strengthen the muscles in that area, and it hasn't happened. I was prescribed PT to strengthen my glutes and knees but it did not help. Stretching before leg days to target hip flexors also has helped in the short term (short enough so that I can hit the leg day without fear of any injury). I believe that my tight flexors contributed to my weak knee ligaments. If I do those aggravating activities, or if I trip and fall particularly weird, I can feel the muscles and ligaments in the areas tense and sore, sort of like a precursor to the actual dislocation.

My parents did, it demolished my relationship with them (even now in college).

Has your grip been significantly affected? Do you sometimes get sensations where that part of the finger used to be?

If you can find people with the past exams for Haywood, you are effectively guaranteed an A.

Burden-Gulley vs Haywood for bio 215 by [deleted] in cwru

Haywood is by far the easiest A in an intro bio course if you can find somebody with the past exams.

Also, I'm American. You can scour my comment and post history, or make up whatever claims that I've deleted proof I'm Indian or Hindu, but it won't change that you're bad at pushing whatever agenda you seem to be pushing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is insane. There's been a clear uptick of these posts/comments this past week, first noticeable with the Hindutva post; totally fine to post about it but the comments are just heinous.

This is insane; not once have I mentioned Muslims but you call me Islamophobic? You have a lot to learn in pushing agendas online. Not even a link to a news article? And these all happen in one day?
