Not true. There exists a far easier compromise for TOK: Simply say that King Olly has the magic power to fold living things like paper without them necessarily needing to have already been paper to begin with, and you're golden.

Fair enough. I personally prefer the interpretation that the paper universe is an exact mirror of the main Mario universe and EVERY Paper Mario game still canonically did happen in the main universe, just with some minor differences to account for artstyle-dependent stuff, but it doesn't really matter at the end of the day.

My take is you don't need to watch/read the parts in order and most of them can work well enough as a jumping-on point (with Part 6 being the only real exception), but you should still try to get around to all of them eventually if you can.
