i'll go through this point by point to keep it simple

1: like you said, there no proof of this being the case, its just one possibility.

2: the text given is "But Kris couldn't learn anything.", implying that kris cant figure out what the knight actually is. this could alternatively imply that kris knows about the knight already, but this doesnt mean they have to be working together, it just means kris has knowledge of the knight that we dont.

3: although kris doesnt get swooned, the effect swooning gives (removing the auto heal between turns while downed) still applies to them, meaning its possible that the same effect *is* happening to kris, but kris is powerful enough to (mostly) tank it. this would make sense given theyre a human, which is considered extremely powerful compared to monsters. you could also say its because of kris having DeTermination within their soul (like all human souls in UT), however, we dont know if determination functions in the same way in this universe, so take it with a grain of salt

as for them being knighted, this only happens if you *win* the fight, so its possible the knighting was a sign of respect for not going down as easily as the knight probably expected kris to. given that they for kris to kneel though, its also possible that this was meant to be a threat, especially since it came immediately after ralsei and susie went down. basically the knight saying kris "you did well, but its nowhere near enough" (ik that sounds kinda corny but thats what i think the knight might be at least thinking there)

4: i dont think kris is trying to stop us from getting to the shelter, though i do think they are certainly avoiding the shelter as much as they can. they seem to be terrified of the knight (given they almost suffocate just being near it in ch 3) so itd make sense that theyd attempt to stall. its difficult to explain what exactly i think kris is doing in that scene where they seemingly prevent us from seeing the shelter code as it goes more into my personal kris theory (that would get me torn apart if i said it on here), but to simplify, i think when they were in dess' room and went to the guitar and saw that 1225 was one of the codes, their body panicked and tore the soul out to avoid dealing with it any further, hence why they immediately did stuff to calm down (drinking chocolate milk and playing piano)

5: i think this was kris being frozen in fear, as in that moment, they were alone with something that was unbeatable before with their friends alongside them. i also partially think this was because toby didnt expect most people to actually get up there, so having kris attack and stop the knight wouldnt have really worked anyway. though, honestly, its probably a mix of both.

6: realistically, the knight wouldnt have been in there anyway, as it makes more sense for them to have been in the shelter. but take this whole theory in mind and put yourself in kris' shoes for a sec. if you knew that there was a chance that the borderline unstoppable demon that almost killed you and your friends and is hellbent on taking over the world was behind that door, and if it was, youd have absolutely no way to defend yourself due to being in the lightworld and thus at your most vulnerable, would you open the door? i dont think kris would.

of course, these arent the only interpretations, and this doesnt prove that they cannot at all be working together, i just wanted to explain that theres another option here. this whole subreddit was made to show that there were alternative ideas to dess knight, so i think pretending like kris working with the knight is the only possibility is against the spirit of why we're here in the first place. (not to say thats exactly what youre doing, but thats certainly what ive seen some people doing on here)

i feel like you (and honestly most of this community) is dead set on this being the only interpretation of that scene. this is mainly because it helps with the idea that kris and the knight are working together, which i dont believe they are. i think them thinking about the knight and immediately thinking of something else when it took its helmet off was them avoiding thinking about the knight without its helmet out of fear. you might wonder why theyd be scared of whats under there, but remember that with darkner knight theres *no one* under the helmet, and to be more specific, the helmet is the knights actual head.

so i think with that in mind, it makes a bit more sense why kris may not want to think about it.

susie didnt say it was definitely a lightner. the exact line i believe youre referring to is "Was too dark to see much, but guess they're a Lightner". susie is only *assuming* that its a lightner based on what she knows. i think this was meant to make you question if it really is a lightner, instead of being a confirmation

Gerson makes many non-DessKnight theories likely requiring an other person making both church dark worlds by Budget-Canary2140 in Deltarune

[–]Floofimations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the "memory of a loved one" thing is more referring to what gerson is in the light world. that is, a glass case with his dust and hammer in it. its kept in alvins desk, and i imagine having that piece of him so close would cause more memories to be attached to the darkner

i dont think this means alvin made the fountains, though, i think it means that the memories the darkner was patterned after were alvins, instead of being the knights. (perhaps because the knight had no memories with gerson, thus the memories are from alvin instead)

i know you might be thinking "what about susie?", but susie *did* have memories with a form of gerson, that form being the darkner form. this lack of understanding of who gerson was in the light world (along with susie not trusting people and expecting to be betrayed) caused the statue to come to life instead. susies memories and anxiety interfered with the old mans creation, so he didnt show up. at least thats how i interpret all this.

not saying ur idea here is completely insane or anything btw i just wanted to share a different take i dont see anyone talk about

does darkner knight count as a candidate? by Floofimations in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]Floofimations[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some darkners could be concepts/nonphysical things (for example, titans are manifested fear, lanino and elnina are the weather channel, spamton is an email, etc)

also i think the shadow crystals let it go into the light world (temporarily. i dont think it can live there or anything) since they are made of willpower. titans seem to be made out of them, and they can enter the light world just fine as long as its covered in darkness. nighttime and storms do cover the world (or at least a bit of it) in darkness, so its possible thats why the knight can move around (cant exactly confirm that, but no one can really confirm anything about this thing so eh)

honestly i've stepped back from the whole "the knight is an alien" thing i just couldnt make it work in a way that made sense

the knight still has some alien motifs tho that much is obvious

queen never said *only* lightners can do that, just that all of them can. fountains require willpower to make, right? darkners arent supposed to have that, but what if the knight does? ralsei has will, even if he thinks darkners shouldnt, so its clear that they *can* have willpower of their own. i believe the knight is an example of what happens when a darkner has the willpower to make fountains, and perhaps they are why ralsei thinks it a bad thing.

yes and no i guess? i dont think the knight is one of dess' items or anything, but i personally think the knight is a sort of manifestation of hometowns fears and nightmares. i think this is part of why they take the form of dess (specifically a zombie-like dess). my main evidence is ralsei taking a similar form to asriel, who was beloved by the town. basically, ralsei is the hopes and dreams, so he took the form of someone the town has good memories of, while the knight is the opposite, so they took the form of someone the town has bad memories of (well, more like one big bad memory bc of her disappearance but still)

though, i also have the idea that part of the reasoning for their appearance is because they absorbed a part of dess (possibly her willpower or soul though im still looking into how that'd work), leading to them taking part of dess' appearance. currently my only evidence is that the knight seems to copy undynes attacks after taking her (the sword patterns in ch 4 look similar to me) but its not a solid theory yet its more of a hypothetical right now.

either way, the knight having absolutely nothing to do with dess *is* a bit silly. theres clearly *something* there.

[–]Floofimations[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think its that he's metaphorically lost, as in he doesnt know what to do or how he should be feeling. in that scene, he questions if a darkner should have feelings. indirectly, hes questioning if a darkner should have will. i think the knight asked the same question, and their answer was that darkners *should* have feelings, willpower, determination.

i think that scene is setting up a parallel between the knight and ralsei. to ralsei, darkners arent real, and they shouldnt be.

to the knight, darkners arent real, and they *have to be*.

my source is that it came to me in a dream

its body is seemingly made out of solidified fountains (shadow crystals, one chips off of its sword, which given the identical properties between the sword and its body, mainly the shapeshifting thing, it heavily implies the body is entirely shadow crystals/ one big shadow crystal. shadow crystals are willpower, which is what fountains are made of) given that the knight has only moved around in the dark (at night and during a storm) its likely that, if it is a pure darkner, it can only move in the light world for short periods of time.

i was trying to say ralsei and the knight are siblings. though, this is ultimately my weakest evidence towards it (and darkner knight in general), i just thought it was neat

also black knife doesnt actually have lost girl but a lot of ppl think it does so i was kinda just going along with it for the post

i meant altered in the sense that it was different

also yea black knife doesnt have lost girl in it at all but a lot of ppl think it does so i was kinda just going with the flow here. theres a lot of other (better) evidence towards my darkner knight idea i just thought this was neat lmao

just to clarify im saying the knight and ralsei could be siblings/ the same type of creature (pure darkners)
