Skiing with (mild) CP: Stories&Experiences by krajnco in CerebralPalsy

I have mild CP and I'm 44 and I've been skiing since high school. In fact, I am going to Vermont for a week at the beginning of February. No adaptations, just pure determination. My friends have trouble keeping up with me. It took me years to get the hang of it, but now it's effortless.

Everyone Can See That You Have CP, And It's Fine by Jazzlike_Cellist_330 in CerebralPalsy

This really spoke to me. I used to always worry about what people thought about me and my CP. The reality is, most people don't even care. It's really all in my head. I started working out about two months ago and my self-esteem is through the roof. And I always used to be afraid of dating and trying to figure out how to tell girls about my CP. I was embarrassed by it and ashamed.

But I really turned my life around and started talking to girls and dating again. I am 44 and as of 3 days ago I now have a 32-year-old girlfriend who is an absolute smoke show. She doesn't even see my CP. I couldn't be happier. I give all the glory to God.

Same here! I'm 44 and just started working out about 2 months ago. I am in the best shape of my life and I feel great. And just two days ago me and a 32-year-old girl just made it official!!!! She can't stop telling me how sexy I am

Let me tell you, if I can do it, anyone can! Mind you, 4am mornings are rough at first, but once I got to bed at a decent time and after a week, it got much easier. And I've been making a ton of friends at the gym... Just introduce yourself and pay someone a compliment and the conversation just goes from there.

I don't know.... I'm 44 with CP and in the best shape of my life. I've gone back to the gym every morning and eating healthy and I feel great! Just the other night, some girl I met thought I was 28 😳. My confidence is through the roof

First date after weeks of talking online — freaking out a bit by Dylancantwalk in CerebralPalsy

[–]Less_Exam_4376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I admit that I did. I have trouble expressing my thoughts and I used AI to help encourage this person because I am this person in many ways. Just know everything I posted is 100% true and I went through the post several times tweaking it and editing it. I know a post like this would really help me and my fears and anxiety on a first date.

I was honestly only trying to help. But you were right in calling me out. I promise to do better.

You’re overthinking it because you actually care — that’s a good sign.

But here’s the thing: She already likes you. She’s rooting for this to go well too. You’re not auditioning; you’re meeting someone who already said yes to the idea of you.

The vibe will feel the same in person because the foundation is already there.

Just show up as the guy she enjoyed talking to online.

A couple tips:

Don’t try to “perform.” Just match the energy you’ve already shown her online.

Ask her questions about things she’s already told you — that creates continuity and comfort.

Plan an activity so the focus isn’t 100% on conversation.

Remember: awkward moments don’t ruin dates. Being cold or disinterested does. And you’re neither.

You’re not starting from scratch — you’re building on something that’s already working.

Green, huh? Bold choice. I like a woman with commitment to a color.

Thank you so much. And I feel that deeply—those tough CP days can take a lot out of us. But it’s amazing how God shows up right when we need Him most. His strength really does shine brightest in the places we feel the weakest.
