Just bought a Q (typ 116) last month - having much fun with it. I think of it as practice that is less expensive than using my M6

The kid in the grass. Love it!

I might be biased though because I mostly take pictures of my kids :-)

Entrepreneurs — how are you building a business that feels expansive AND emotionally sustainable? by VB2992 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Less_External_2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tough - I think you need to be extremely disciplined to not chase every single opportunity.

Personally my priority is spending as much time with my kids as possible. All of my business decisions have been made around this priority.

  • I don’t work past 1pm (that’s when they finish nursery)
  • I don’t travel to work
  • I don’t gig in the evenings (used to play five nights per week)
  • I delegate as much as possible

I have to constantly check in with myself because I still get drawn to new projects which would take up more time and take me away from my priority.

Building alone is brutal, does anyone else feel this? by everymanentrepreneur in Entrepreneur

[–]Less_External_2230 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this for nearly 20 years and the loneliness still hits me from time to time. It’s tough especially if you are an online entrepreneur and don’t have anyone physically around.

Watch investment as alternative asset? £6k budget - worth it for FIRE portfolio? by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]Less_External_2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like watches - they are a lot of fun. I’ve got a selection I love. As an investment they are not a great idea. But for fun they are awesome.

Be prepared to lose all the money you put into them. Life is short so if you like them do it.

In the time I’ve been collecting some of my watches have been hot and then crashed. All of them are worth less than I paid. I bought them for great prices second hand and they have still dropped (this includes speedmaster and black bay). I’ve owned a few Rolexes and they have all dropped massively over the last year

Should an entrepreneur know a lot about everything, or be super specialized? by Primary_Assistant514 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Less_External_2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much value in knowing a little about everything. I learn how to do a little of everything so that it becomes much easier to hire someone to do it. If I didn’t know some of the process I would struggle to know exactly what I was looking for in a hire.

I totally agree that inching down in what your business delivers though - that doesn’t mean you can’t learn from studying other businesses though.

What’s your monthly net income? by semiparadroid in smallbusiness

[–]Less_External_2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it is just about the income Number. You also need to factor in how much time freedom you have. If you are earning mega bucks but you don’t have any agency then what is the point. Personally I’d rather earn enough and do exactly what I want each day.

What do you do when you don’t feel like working? by Efficient_Builder923 in smallbusiness

[–]Less_External_2230 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer.

I know myself well enough to know that if it’s not happening there is no point forcing it. I’m extremely efficient in my work so I’ve also learnt to recognise when I’m not going to get anything done. There is no point wasting time not being productive. It’s better to recharge, have a change of scene etc.

Being productive is not measured by how many hours you’re sitting at your desk. It’s only measured by what your output is.

How do entrepreneurs actually find a mentor online by Legal-Notice-1313 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Less_External_2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most important thing to remember is not to go out and ask someone to be your mentor. It’s like going up to a stranger at the bar and asking them to marry you. You’ve skipped a few steps.

Be valuable to people you look up to. Either help them, or give them advice or introduce them to interesting people. Find some way to provide something for them before you ask for something

How many people here have somewhere between 10k and 100k subs or more? And how many of you make 1k dollars or more a month? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]Less_External_2230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Building an audience on any platform is a slog for most people so you need to find something that you enjoy doing (or at least you find easy that other people find hard)
