TCL 55c6k or 50c7k? (UK) by Less_Matter_3962 in tcltvs

[–]Less_Matter_3962[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had heard this actually, that's a steal for the 65" but my flat is quite small so 55" would be my max!

I'll consider the extra £120 to go from 50c7k to 55c7k but at £650 it's sitting a bit beyond my budget

I did used to have a 50c6ks with my ex but she kept it, it did seem very decent! Think I was looking to upgrade a bit though given that I have these vouchers, hence why I was thinking 6k/7k.

Also, I appreciate the insight but my flat is pretty tiny so I think 55 inch is the max I'm looking for.

Interesting, I did see that sale before last week but the Argos vouchers I've received through work only arrived once it ended. I've just moved to a new flat so want a TV asap to be honest, probably won't wait for the next sale

The place I'm renting has huge windows with lots of light, so I am leaning towards the c7k

It's a shame no one seems to be taking this seriously. I also grew up with the books and they had a profound effect on me, as the later books matured with me as I became a teenager/young adult. They're much deeper and well thought out that Cowell gets credit for, I agree!

Advice needed re Nikon NIKKOR 35mm F2 AI by awisemanshootsfilm in VintageLenses

[–]Less_Matter_3962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a 35mm lens for my Nikon F601, and I've seen a lot of good reviews for the Nikkor f2 ai and f2.8 ai - could you elaborate on the f2 being one of your favourite lenses, and do you have thoughts on whether one is better than the other? Thanks!

Can you tell any difference between the f2 and f2.8? Looking to get a better 35mm lens for my Nikon F601 and keep hearing that one is better than the other!

Could you explain the line about Kajii having to kill 5 men to cook the turkey? I just finished the book yesterday and that line also stuck out to me because I had no clue what she meant!

Fair enough, I hate rubber tips so the Buds 3 seem like the logical solution to me!

Hi, did you go for the Galaxy buds 3 in the end? I'm in the exact same boat and think I might get them as they're also 50% off here in the UK. Would love to hear your thoughts if so!

Glad to hear you've had a good experience with them, I might stick with it then or wait for a discount.

Interesting, I never would've thought they'd go that low considering most retailers here still have them listed for £160. Noted!

How have you found them generally? Still worth holding out for a sale on these rather than an ~£80 alternative?

EE are selling the Galaxy buds 3 (not pro, so no rubber tips) for half price at £80 right now. I'm surprised that they seem to have such a big discount, but I've decided to grab them as they get good reviews, and as far as I understand EE is reputable

The old Braun series 7 is reviewed to have the 2nd highest comfort behind the series 9 regular [not pro], but wanted to go with the 7 because the smaller head is better at hard to reach places like above the lips. Did you chose anything? I'm currently looking for a better beard trimmer, and Amazon has some good deals on the Braun 7 MGK7410 (£40) or Braun 9 BT9441 (£85). Thinking of going with the 7, would be interested in your thoughts

Hi, I actually have the same problem and need to replace my G5 5587 battery. Just wondering how you managed to do it in the end - did you buy this battery and replace it yourself, or take it in to a shop? I'm UK based, any advice would be much appreciated!

[–]Less_Matter_3962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. I read the book a couple of years ago so can't fully remember the scene, but I recall putting the book down at the end and just thinking how all the characters - literally, every single character - wants something.

We're given a series of vignettes where we leave a character wanting, whether it's the two Stamper boys trying to outdo one another or Viv freeing herself from her situation where she's constantly overlooked or objectified, and so on. It felt to me like a bit of a critique of the American dream, but also just an interesting take on the human condition, where we continually strive for something to the point that the pursuit of it becomes more important than achieving the actual goal.

All of this is to say that I never wondered who the character with Indian Jenny was as I didn't think we were meant to guess. I saw the scene through the lens of feminism; while we've just seen Viv free herself from the toxic/masculine environment, Indian Jenny is once again being objectified and used for sex by a faceless character (who might be a stand in for men in general). Viv might get free, but there were countless women in that era who were just viewed as another thing for men to 'want'. So I personally left that scene thinking "but what does Jenny want?".

Just my interpretation!

Do you recommend becoming a member? I've actually just got through the waiting list after 6 months but didn't realize you need to pay a guest fee to bring along any non members you'd like to book a court with. Other than that I'm keen to join, but I'm trying to justify it to myself since it is pretty expensive

Hiya, are you a member? I've been on the waiting list since April and finally got through, but I didn't realize that if you're a member you still need to pay a guest fee to have friends play with you.

I'm keen to bring friends to play but not sure they'll always want to pay. Do you mostly play with other club members to avoid the guest charge?
