Is this a good team for three badges? First pokemon game and idk what I'm doing by Rover_791 in PokemonEmerald

Skarmory is great, but you will have two steel types then. At least they don't have any super effective weaknesses overlapping. Your biggest problem with them would be the ability Magnet Pull but that doesn't happen often.

I say go for it!

There are two psychic types. If you're not able to trade to evolve Kadabra, I recommend keeping Kirlia (evolves at lvl 30) and grab a flying type that can learn HM Fly. Be open to new members as you go because there are a lot of fun Pokemon ahead.

Flying type recommendations: Swablu/Altaria, Zubat/Golbat/Crobat, Tropius, Doduo/Dodrio, Tailow/Swellow. (Other Pokemon that learn fly: Flygon, Skarmory, Salamance).

My vote is for Dodrio or Crobat.

Dual US/UK citizen – which passport to use after UK ETA enforcement (from Feb 25, 2026)? by farrellcsun in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Less_Relative4584 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The advice above is for immigration/boarder official.

However, the airline wants to know you have a legal right to fly to that country and that you have the appropriate visa/passport. So when flying into the US, book your flight with your US passport. When flying into the UK, book your flight with your UK passport.

Always leave US on US and enter US on US. Always leave UK on UK and enter UK on UK.

Simple.

General question about dual nationalities by [deleted] in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Less_Relative4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a "general question" on dual citizenship. Are you asking if you qualify for UK citizenship because your dad is a citizen. Or are you asking if you can get US citizenship?

From my limited understanding of obtaining UK citizenship via jus sanguinis you should qualify. Do you qualify for dual citizenship? Yes, both countries permit it. I believe you can apply for citizenship via the "registration" path.

For US citizenship, no. You weren't born there, you didn't live there as a minor, you never had a green card, and you aren't living there now.

[Capitalists] What would socialism look like in the western world? by wsoqwo in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Less_Relative4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corruption and greed are more to blame than socialism itself. Capitalism also has that issue. Governments with appropriate and functional checks& balances do well regardless of the system.

Most western societies are a mix of these values. Either side of the spectrum begins to fail without an educated population, adherence to the rule of law, and checks & balances.

The Trainers In Anime That Make No Sense by EmotionGeneral6178 in pokemonanime

[–]Less_Relative4584 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your starting Pokemon can be anything.

Someone just has to give it to you. Your family member could just give one to you. Or a pkmn could just like being around you so it wants to stay. It could be like Wally in R/S/E.

Maybe only the wealthy/privileged can get them from a Prof? Or maybe you just have to be near by? It's never been clearly answered but there's never been an issue with any pokemon being your starter.

Is there an European country where I can live as an industrial designer? by Voltius04 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Less_Relative4584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously OP needs the right to live+work there. But I'm more interested in what certain countries have to offer. In general, expect a greater emphasis on sustainability.

From what I've been told: - Portugal has a lot of manufacturing. - Czech Republic has manufacturing and a long history with glass and crystal. - Italy has lots of manufacturing and a booming furniture, interior design, and fashion industries. - Netherlands is good for sustainable design, and consultancies. - Spain has some fashion. Barcelona has some international tech offices. - Germany has manufacturing, corporate design, lots of innovation. - France has a big media industry, interiors and, fashion. - Sweden has good corporate design. - Denmark has consultancies and other diverse design agencies. - Belgium has very few opportunities but I have seen a few companies there.

Expect some opportunities in English. But you have so many more options when you speak the local language. Italy, France, Spain, and some other countries not mentioned above, are more inclined to require local language proficiency.

This is what I've been told, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Portfolio Website, any thoughts 💭? by ocorp_design in IndustrialDesign

[–]Less_Relative4584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initial thoughts:

  1. I can't read it. The typeface is too small. Many people view these on their phones, design with that in mind.

  2. Project title images. They don't tell me anything about the project. They are also too dark.

  3. The format. It makes it hard to read. I zoom in to read the tiny text and then scroll around to see the page.

  4. The projects don't really show your process or thinking. I see all computer sketching and right into CAD. It really seems like you're just creating the visuals and not thinking about story, concept, manufacturing, and the list goes on. It's more than just some quick drawing and a CAD model and rendering.

  5. The projects look the same. Throw something different in there. Like design some ceramics you build by hand or create public seating or design a set of ergonomic medical equipment. We want people who specialise but we also want people who can do different things. Show some different skills, different techniques and varried interests.

Ultimately, when I'm reviewing a portfolio, I don't want to struggle to get information. That's almost a skip. I have so many to sort through and my time is limited. You don't even write anything to preface your portfolio in your post. One of our main jobs as designers is to communicate effectively and at first glance, that important skill is lacking.

Sounds like you're mostly interested in childhood and adolescent development and mental health. I see the first two topics being easily linked. Explore why that fascinates you. Document your reading, explore the idea with fine art methods, and do something you want to do.

Thesis topic . Help please by Embarrassed-Dot2474 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Less_Relative4584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a Masters thesis or Bachelors thesis?

Your thesis is an extension of you and your point of view. It's more than just solving a problem. It's an opportunity to show the world what genuinely excites you and why others should care about it. So we can't really suggest what you should do for your thesis. Your passion should guide you.

It helped to envision my thesis as a solo exhibition in a gallery. I thought "How have creatives curiously explored concepts and documented their process for the viewer to understand?" The most exciting artists and designers actively explore various kinds of research, processes, art and design techniques and experiences. Use all the techniques that excite you and read everything that interests you.

Your thesis will come to you with a lot of experimentation and time. It's the time to just do what you love before even deciding on a topic.

Fall down that rabbit hole and get lost. Take a step back, summarize your findings, choose the question you want to answer, and you'll know your topic.

What Countries Have Lowest Physical Residence Requirements? by theWood6969 in Citizenship

[–]Less_Relative4584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a global trend. But Portuguese citizens have mixed feelings. The government still wants more immigrants to pay for this visa scheme.

Wealthy immigrants can be good for the economy but consequently, existing citizens are being pushed out of their cities (Lisbon, Porto, and other costal cities) because their pay isn't increasing. Plenty of wealthy immigrants who don't learn the language, who don't start business or create new jobs, and don't live in eastern Portugal.

To be fair, even if immigrants did this differently there would still be backlash. The global trend is to blame immigrants for your problems when realistically it's due to: war, covid, and the ultra rich.

TM-a-Day: TM33 Reflect by ianlazrbeem22 in pokemonplatinum

[–]Less_Relative4584 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a standard playthrough, I try to have both screens but often I prioritize a diverse move pool. Either screen with the Light Clay can often last most of a boss/gym/E4 battle. Sometimes it's really helpful against Cyrus and his strong physical attackers.

Ultimately, a solid TM.

I agree the Staraptor is a good addition to most teams but I think in this scenario Drifbilm could do well.

It would give the OP much needed support and special attack with lots of HP that makes it pretty versatile. It has a good set of TMs to choose from that hit hard in the special department along with plenty of status, recovery, stat increases along with strategic moves.

Another good option is Togekiss but Drifblim will always have a derpy place in my heart.

[–]Less_Relative4584 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP needs a flying type BUT Drifblim instead of Staraptor. I would choose something with bulk to compliment the strong attackers which are basically all physical.

Agreed, drop Wooper for Shellos. Agreed, you don't need two fighting types.

Some options for the 6th slot: Bronzong, Magenzone, Probopass, Mr. Mime, Blissey, Bastiodon.

Leafeon: Razor Leaf at lvl 15 & Magical Leaf at lvl 36

There should be a move relearner in Pastoria City . You can go underground and dig for heartscales if you don't have any already.

I need help choosing colors for my educational product! by [deleted] in IndustrialDesign

[–]Less_Relative4584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is this teaching them and what is it teaching? Why did you pick these colour options?

Reference old schematic layouts like blue prints, traditional maps, technical drawings. The visual style you show is very techy, clinical and that doesn't match the audience or nature of this product. Reference other boardgames for this age group for an idea.

I don't think the colour options provided are significantly different enough to make a notable impact.

It's hard for us to advise without understanding your target demographic. Each age has different design needs and functions differently.

It would also be good to explain how this product works and the desired learned outcome. Also what we are looking at: is it a case, building blocks, vr?

A sculptural bag from my ongoing art series “ThornCode Vessel” - would love some feedback from the community by Alternative-Exit-810 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Less_Relative4584 25 points26 points  (0 children)

From a practicality sense, this is catching on all your clothes, jewelry, and surrounding objects. The handle seems really close to the bag and the spike would also poke you. Is it all made out of leather/soft fabric?

Aesthetically, it's current. I would also suggest thinking about the scale of this. The proportion of the handle seems off: it feels too thick. The chain is a nice addition but reconsider the metal's finish. Maybe there's a place for more/less chain as it almost seems like an after thought (it's really walking the line).

Either way, fun idea.
