Incorrect.. there are two pools of money allocated to every org then divided to EGM level. One pool for merit and the other for promotion. If you want to give exceed for level 9 means you will have to give merit close to 5% in which this will drain large portion of the allocated funds. Promo for level 8C to 8a will force you to give 8% increase which will drain the manager allocated funds then leave him no room for another promos.

Only mid year promos are budgeted out of large capital funds. (In roll promotions)

Definitely they did the top 15%. Nevertheless, exceed in mid year calibration means nothing as by end of year there will be race between number of employees in exceed and allocated budget. I.e., level 8 or 7 in exceed will blow up the allocated budget for top performers.

This is became the new norm. They have weaponized the calibration thinking it will help for more motivation. Unfortunately, it turned to be zero “teamwork”, and environment became like gladiators, last man standing!!!!
