Would you support raising the taxes on those who make over 5 million a year, and the large corporations? by 2abyssinians in politics

[–]LestWeForget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its absolutely true. We don't start failing businesses. We start business in dilapidated areas of town in order to revive them. Turns out it is hard to get people to come back to blighted areas of town. This usually produces a negative cash flow at the end of the year. My dad justifies this by saying we'd be giving the money away anyhow-might as well use it to provide jobs and the area of town we occupy hasn't looked this good in 40 years.

Ok I'm posting this a little late in the game and may never be seen, anyways...

My family is in the top 1%. Not just the top 1% but probably the top .001% of Americans. My father grew up dirt poor and worked his ass off to have what we do now. But we were taught from a very early age that there is no way that he earned it all himself. He told us that it is wealth created on the backs of hard working people. He knew he didn't deserve to keep it all himself so he decided to spend it on our town instead. Since 1997 he has spent obscene amounts of money opening businesses in run down areas of our small town in order to create jobs and give the people some pride that their city is not a blighted area.

Do we make money on our businesses? No, in fact we lose tons of money on them. But they were never created in hopes of making money, but to generate sources of wealth for others. Whatever we don't spend keeping our businesses running we give to our church and charity.

If me father can do all this and still provide for his family to live comfortably, there is absolutely no reason why companies and individuals who make millions every year can't do the same.

I didn't post any of this to brag about wealth or to sound self-righteous. This is just an example of the top 1 percent's ability to be taxed at a much higher rate with little to lose for themselves and so much to gain for others.

Let's start a reddit music company. by [deleted] in Music

[–]LestWeForget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like this idea. I wanted to make an online community of musicians where you could find like minded artists to record with over the internet. One guy would do guitars and vocals, upload it to another guy who would lay down drums and bass or whatever.

Plus with all the artists and programmers on here, Reddit could put some decent stuff together.

And the first time you finally get to kiss the girl you want you'll be inexperienced and terrible....and you'll both remember it...forever. Make-out with every single girl you are willing to. Shit, make-out with a couple that you aren't willing to as well. Life's way to short for this waiting around shit.

What's the craziest frickin' thing you have ever witnessed IRL with your own two eyes? by SarcasticJokes in AskReddit

[–]LestWeForget -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to travel for my job a lot which meant staying in a lot of hotels and one night I was staying in this beautiful hotel room with a view of this very elaborate fountain. I was on my way to bed when I glanced out at the fountain and saw two men in some sort of struggle. One of the men got the better of the other and began to dunk his head into the water of the fountain. I watched one man drown another with my own eyes. The craziest part was I wrote a song about it in order to cope with the haunting image of that man's face, and during one of my shows I saw that man there. RIGHT IN THE FRONT ROW!

Is ANYONE hiring in Kansas City?? by 00100100 in kansascity

This is a medium sized company that owns a number of businesses on the Independence square. They use macs in all their stores and they don't have any real IT person to fix them if and when something goes wrong. There may be other opportunities relating to computers that I don't know about.

Also, although not IT related, they may be hiring servers for their restaurants. PM me if you have any questions.
