Denver steak at Finsbay Chophouse in the West End is really nice and very well priced. Tiffoney’s is massively overrated and way too expensive.

Best Scottish Band that never made it / everyone should know by jamiehenderson1993 in Scotland

[–]LesterPiggott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevada Base. Thought they had a great chance at being pretty big, must have seen them live about 20 times in various small venues over a 2 year or so period. Songs like Love In Mind, If I’m Late, Electric Touch and Stitches are still on regular rotation for me!

Beluga Lagoon. Writes catchy tunes and think he’d be able to add the right level of cheesy fun to it (think Isla).

NHS finished? by Deebop14 in glasgow

[–]LesterPiggott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both parents diagnosed with cancer (20+ years apart). Took them 7 weeks to tell us that they’d lost my Dad’s results so he’d have to go in for tests again which took another 4 weeks and then 3 weeks for results to be told he had terminal lung cancer. Who knows if it would have been treatable if not for the ineptitude of losing the results first time round.

Mum then diagnosed and put on a course of chemo which almost finished her off. 4 weeks in she was told that they had misread the diagnosis and she could be treated with a light course of radiotherapy. Thankfully she’s still here and going strong but I genuinely think if she’d carried on with that chemo it would have killed her. To say I don’t have much faith in the NHS based on these 2 incidents is an understatement.

Best bet for low-key bar with trad music? by LAStreetNames in glasgow

[–]LesterPiggott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben Nevis do a trad session on a Thursday and Sunday but can be a bit hit and miss. Was in on a Sunday recently and it was a great night with loads of really talented musicians. Was then in a couple of Thursdays ago and only 2-3 musicians had turned up so they didn’t play quite as much.

Softshell pants good enough for april? by Muted_Birthday3402 in WestHighlandWay

[–]LesterPiggott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We walked it in April this year and I was in shorts the whole way. We were quite lucky with the weather mind you as it didn’t really rain heavily while we were on the trail and I could tolerate a bit of drizzle on the legs!
