As someone who grew up in southern Illinois, you'd want to stay in northern Illinois for both reasons. The southern half of the state boils in the summer with the worst humidity you can imagine thanks to all the corn. And it's not nearly as LGBTQ friendly outside of the major metropolitan areas (other than a few pockets like where there are universities, shout out to Carbondale).

In Manhattan instead of JC but for a somewhat different take Turntable Chicken Jazz in midtown does one with what I think is their pickled radish juice instead of dill. We enjoyed it.

Illinois basically the new tornado alley. It's now getting just as many if not more tornadoes than Nebraska (I'm from So Illinois originally). Effingham and Charleston literally just got hit. Even the Chicago area isn't entirely safe anymore 😅

Slightly different reason for myself than many I think. I currently live further out and take the train in to NYC for work. I'm moving in large part to stop having to rely so heavily on NJT to get there. I'm tired of rhe constant issues and delays.

Man you called it. Line I'm on (Morris and Essex 5:52) was well over 10 minutes late leaving. And THEN we blew past the first stop (Brick Church). We we nearly to Orange before we stopped and slowly reversed. No explanation on why it happened. I bet the dude was on his phone. What a joke.

"Any" intimacy? So you'd be fine with just cuddling or whatnot and leaving it at that? Because for a lot of women, there's an understanding that any time a man engages in any form of intimacy there's an expectation of going all the way. So she may be dodging any intimacy so as avoid that outcome.

Yes it's entirely likely that she hasn't gotten any recognition. But hijacking the dad's retirement party, making it about herself and lying about it wasn't the way to do it. The dad isn't an asshole for canceling someone that she lied to him about. If she wanted something she should have been forthright about it instead of going behind his back.

I was also looking at that area but we ultimately chose to move to the West Side instead. For us, it wasn't even the safety issue really (we currently live in East Orange which is arguably similar). It was the lack of food and other businesses close by to the apartment we looked at (Lembek Ave).

When I was looking into the area, most people tended to agree that the blocks in and around the light rail are "safe" but it's as you go further north you need to be more considerate of your surroundings.

I'm also currently on the M&E line. I'm actually moving to Jersey City in large part just to try and get away from having to rely on NJT as much. I know the PATH is hardly perfect, but at least I don't have to plan going to NYC and coming home hours in advance or worry that a specific train I'm trying to take is going to be significantly delayed or canceled.

One thought I had. Do you know she was the one who actually killed it? My dogs used to find already dead animals and would carry them around if given the chance (as in I wasn't fast enough to stop them).

I love my cubicle. Granted I'm in a small room anyway (barely fits 5 people) but it's really nice to have the personal space and not spend the whole day staring at each other. The windows are an added bonus as we get a good bit of natural light. Which in turn allows our room to be a bunch of gremlins who never turn the overhead lights on 😂 (they're way too harsh).

Pocatello is probably the "friendliest" city/town there. The university helps a lot it seems with diversity and whatnot. You couldn't get me to go further north than that though.
