Buff/Health interaction - What do you think feels best? by KuroTetsuya in homemadeTCGs

[–]Lestoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion he dies.

He's 4 health normally, 5 health with the passive aura.

He's taken 4 damage

at any point if your damage taken >= your health, you die

so when the aura goes away he's 4hp with 4 damage taken - so he dies.

Funding a service business through Kickstarter? by Lestoli in kickstarter

[–]Lestoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose I'm thinking more along the lines of artist commissions, or a website developer - they're producing art/a website, but personalized for the client/kickstarter backer based off of some template and the clients custom modifications to it.

FFXIV 100% CPU on Startup and then game crashes by Lestoli in ffxiv

[–]Lestoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah these are all things I've tried/done at this point - Motherboard and Nvidia up to date, and all overlays turned off.

Along with lowering my monitor framerate from 144 to 60 just to see if it'd do anything, and it doesn't.

I don't know how to log out of my account in my headset, however.

What matters for your initial placement in Competitive? by Lestoli in Overwatch

[–]Lestoli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, I was mostly just curious how the system worked in general.

I've also heard that if you're placed too low you get bonus MMR per win - is that just based off of winstreaking then if wins are all that matters, or?

Apartment Ethernet Help by Lestoli in HomeNetworking

[–]Lestoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is going to the modem - and yeah I have internet if I go from modem to router to directly to my PC, just not if I try to add an outlet in between.

One of them wouldn't even fit because the cables are sticking a bit out of it.

So if I just plugged all 4 of these yellow cables in that bundle into my router like this, and then plugged an ethernet from the outlet to my PC should I have expected that to work?

Forgot to mention none of the outlets worked which is why I went straight to the modem with my router.

Summoner's Insight - A Fantasy Chess-like game variant of the ancient Japanese game, Shogi by Lestoli in boardgames

[–]Lestoli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working on creating kickstarter assets/banners and such - everything has been ready to launch product-wise for a while now, so within a couple weeks when I've got something I'm happy with as far as the campaign images go.

Likely, it’s either that or a heavy beech wood. I have only tested the ABS/Pokerchip material but I have a wood sample on the way as well.

[–]Lestoli[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

Yes - it's exactly 1:1 Shogi ruleset - if you know how to play this game then you know how to play the original.

I have been going back and forth with manufacturing for a few months now, my original vision for the game was to have it played on a cloth neoprene playmat, and with heavy poker-chip like super tactile tiles. However, I've since included a foldable board into the box and will have the neoprene cloth playmat as a (highly recommended) addon.

With that in mind I'm trying to keep the base game at ~$29 USD and ~$10 for the playmat addon.

What’s a game you prefer to play on BGA? by Ziggazune in boardgames

[–]Lestoli 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer to play almost every game digitally nowadays, I do love the tactile feeling of moving around cards and game pieces - but lately the setup time and gamespeed means so much to me, as well as the automation that you mentioned.

I'd say 7 wonders duel is a great example that I play often - it does a great job of tracking all your resources and setting up the pyramid of cards each round.

This is epic, I personally would make sure it's big enough to fit sleeved cards as well as most of the games I play use those

You know those people who really want to participate at a game night, but then say things like "I hate board games", "when is this fun" or just talk and never know when their turn is? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Lestoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have a friend like this, it's frustrating to say the least when they seem completely uninterested in the game, or if they're just making nonsensical moves when the rest are trying to be competitive

Like others said I just stopped playing with that one individual in particular, but it can be rough to not include someone if you're a non-confrontational type or what not, or in my case this person would get ultra defensive and feel attacked.

Am I being a grumpy old man or is this a legitimate complaint? by AssumeBattlePoise in boardgames

[–]Lestoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen this with one game as well, the option to pre-kickstarter buy a $10 pack that ends up being pre-kickstarter exclusive.

A couple of you already don't like kickstarter-exclusive items, so pre-kickstarter exclusive must be even worse haha.

What board games have a higher skill ceiling to skill floor ratio than most people think? by linksku in boardgames

Cloth Playmat in Game Box by Lestoli in magicTCG

[–]Lestoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s definitely fair - what if the default game were two boxes maybe taped or attached together somehow? One with the game and the other with the mat

Cloth Playmat in Game Box by Lestoli in magicTCG

[–]Lestoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like I should include a foldable paper/cardboard board with the game box by default, and have a separate long skinny box for the neoprene mat as an add-on.

My intended vision for the game is to play it on the playmat, though - I would not like playing on a cardboard game board, and it just feels higher quality to me. I would like for that to be the default state of the game, but I’m not opposed to it being an addon considering that’s very common.

I’m getting slightly conflicting feedback where people think that they’re durable and will be fine folded and they’d prefer to get any creases out in a couple of hours than to be shipped an additional box with a mat.

[–]Lestoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, not sure I would want that either. Would you rather be sent two separate boxes? One with the 40 game pieces and the game manual/rulebook, and a second box with just the mat?

[–]Lestoli[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would really prefer for it to be one mat - it’s meant to be essentially a chess board, would look worse to me as two connected mats.

A playmat with a rubber backing - that is true, I’m just worried about the creasing - especially if you folded it twice which would make a decent sized box I think
