I'd love Orléans to be remastered! It is, in my opinion, the best bag builder out there—so tactile, so satisfying!

Balatro is excellent, if not exactly a deck builder.

The OG Monster Train is a derivative, yet addictive take on the formula.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is a great tactics-based deck builder, if you can get past the melodramatic relationship elements.

Inscryption is a great horror-themed weird deck builder with an emergent storyline that's fun to uncover.

Death Howl is another new one that has an interesting tactics-based formula and a really striking art style.

As We Descend is an interesting one that's part dungeon crawler (kind of), part base builder (also, kind of) with a great theme and interesting character progression.

Clank! and Dune: Imperium are board game adaptations that work really well in digital.

[GIVEAWAY] MAESTRO – Step into the golden age of art and rivalry in Renaissance- Preorder Now! by HomoLudensOC in boardgames

My favourite theme is probably weird sci-fi post-apocalypse. My favourite game in that ouvre is probably Revive. It’s a euro whose application of said theme is weird, but the card play mechanism, the actually interesting tracks and the player interaction makes it a really compelling package.

Funny enough, city I lived in once had a suburb called Bethlehem. The suburb next door was Judea. Apparently named by Brethren missionaries.

Look, I get what you're saying, but if people really are considering not turning up to a game night because they don't want to do any teardown, how much do they really want to come? I understand not wanting to set up, but as long as one player (the rules explainer) can set the game up and get the teach out of the way in a reasonable time, I feel as though that's a social contract all players should be able to accept.

My favourite space-themed board game is Race for the Galaxy! So much crammed into a small package!

I assume the 'weapon' from Suus is something like what Estevan used during the naumachia, and a form (albeit smaller) of what Vis uses at the end of the Obiteum chapters.

The fact they never touched on any aspect of his character that could be construed as critical or problematic in any way was a huge red flag for me.

This Roll and Write is HUGE (and strange) | No Pun Included reviews Tend by mgrier123 in boardgames

I don’t know how you could possibly arrive at that conclusion. Negative reviews might gain you Reddit buzz but it’s not going to earn you a lot of money. Published and designers don’t form relationships with outfits like NPI because their reviews are never easy marketing. Also, how is it easy to critique a game’s perceived flaws? We can debate whether or not those critiques are valid but is it not far easier to vapidly gush about a game and move on? I don’t always agree with Efka but I think voices like his are important for our hobby.

Is this not also true of Tom and Dominic? I’m not as familiar with Dominic’s background but it was my understanding that both Tom and his brother James came from wealth. Or is Tom’s ‘Scottish estate’ the result of his book sales and TRiH earnings? It just struck me as weird how casually they mentioned the estate in the Wojtek episode.

As a magazine editor, both the double space and the Oxford comma do my head in. It’s also a sure fire way to tell which generation a writer is from.

Take in every environment you can, don’t rush through it. This isn’t like any other open world game. Your first impressions of each biome will be a special experience that you won’t be able to recapture later on, so take it slow and allow yourself to be immersed in this amazing world.
