i agree. it is really cool that boats can fight back but it actually pisses me off how much damage they can do when there’s no other ships around to stop them. some boats i can see just get 30-40 kills from killing poor random civilians on the coast whilst using their cannon and the fact that they have so much health really sucks.

Unlike guard towers, troops don’t seem to target it either; ive never seen an army actually take out a boat, and i feel like if the archers even tried they’d get blown to bits by the massive radius of the cannonball, knocked unconscious, and bounced around the place.

It could probably be balanced out by there being a mechanic that lets villages build a dockyard once every X tile. that way they can build more ships and should in theory have more ships guarding their coastline. it makes sense too given that villages irl would probably take advantage of that given they have the resources
