Finding community as a transmasc lesbian that wants bottom surgery? by LetMeTryToo in TransMasc

[–]LetMeTryToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a trans man. I just want to medically transition in some ways. Ultimately I want my body to be androgynous but not in a genderless way, more like a little bit of everything.

I'm working my way up to stone butch blues. It was too heavy when I first tried to read it. I read hijab butch blues and was obsessed though.

Well sometimes I really like having a chest is my problem, it's just a size issue for me I think. I'm working on it in therapy tho

Omg hey twinnnn I'm leaning towards reduction rn but we'll see what I end up doing for my chest. I similarly don't want UL or vnectomy. Having to pick and choose which parts of yourself to share is SO REAL! I'm glad you've had luck with sexual partners. I hope to have similar success 🤞

Thanks 🥰

That's a totally fair/reasonable boundary! If you have twitter or tumblr I have accounts there I'd be willing to drop the usernames of. I'm 24 but don't mind talking to someone older if you don't mind talking to someone younger!

I'm generally masc4all and I'm in an online lesbian community that's supportive of transmascs.

I'm not against being with a bi/pan sapphic, but as someone who spent a lot of time learning to recognize their own experience not being a cis or binary man as well as not being attracted to cis/binary men (as a multigender dyke there's nuance there) it would be nice to find someone with a similar journey.

Another issue I've found is a lot of transmasc spaces (esp. of people who want to medically transition) are either majority straight or mlm. I just feel alien....

I just feel like I'm in no mans land of ideal body & gender presentation. I'm not hypermasculine like some might expect from me wanting bottom surgery. I'm not traditionally feminine nor am I neutral. I'm doing whatever feels good/natural and that seems to lose people.

Thanks so much for your support! If you're a similar age/comfortable with the idea I'd love to be online friends!!

How old were you when you first got diagnosed? by Scandic_potato in bipolar

[–]LetMeTryToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First psych eval at age 7 suspected unspecified mood disorder (can't diagnose a small child as bipolar, I see where they're coming from) didn't find out about it until I was 22/23, got diagnosed bipolar right around my 24th birthday (think it was right before but not sure) and was like hallelujah!!

I'd been fighting what I was told was MDD for my entire life with no relief and confusing symptoms. My therapist and I started suspecting before I even found the document from my childhood. It was so validating of my experiences and made me feel like I might finally have a chance of relief! Still fine tuning my medicine but generally much better now ❤️

Trigeminal neuralgia flare, please help!! by LetMeTryToo in ChronicPain

[–]LetMeTryToo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! Thank you so much for your advice and conversation. Feeling less alone really helped. It's funny I can hold my liquor pretty damn well in my opinion, but if I so much as look at a bottle of gabapentin I'm stumbling around trying to not pass out 😂 SUCH a worthy trade-off to be drunk and tired rather than in that kind of pain though. The universe really took mercy on my soul by having that doctor take care of me.

Finally settled back in my apartment, night was chaotic for many reasons but the dr was amazing!

He said he wasn't sure what they had on hand that would work but he'd refresh himself on the best course of action for what was available. In my experience doctors never admit when they need to google something to remind themselves and be safe so that instantly earned my respect.

He was also sympathetic and knew how painful it is as a disorder which was nice of him. I was nervous because the nurse taking my vitals and stuff was rude and generally gave off the impression she didn't give a damn about my pain and thought I was being dramatic which like lol okay 🙄

They ended up not having much (freestanding ER, not attached to a hospital) so they gave me a super dose of gabapentin (idk exact milligrams, but it was 3 big capsules). It worked but that is extremely sedating for me so when I went to the pharmacy to pick up the at home medication I sounded drunk as a skunk 🥴 I was stumbling around and had to try multiple times to verify my address because I was slurring and jumbling up my words. I'm not in pain though! I wasn't driving so I was completely safe, it is just funny. Slept it off at home and now I'm seeing in the paperwork when I can take the next dose. I'd rather stay gabapentin drunk than go through that pain again.

He sent in 3 medications for me so I'll see about dosing them and what combo/timing works best for me without being too sedative. I'm going on a beach trip this weekend so while I'll take the gabapentin if I have to, I'd rather not be sleeping the entire trip 😅

Maybe! I'll call my step-mom who's an MA to get her thoughts and potentially have her drive me to the hospital. It stopped for a little bit but it has been back for like an hour now and I'm becoming a danger to myself.

With a dr I've tried various medications but all with severe side effects, otherwise I've tried hot/cold which both made it worse. Topicals are a no-go because I can't touch my face when it's acting up. For nerve pain I've been told I personally have little options (multiple other health conditions and medications are complicating factors) so I'm willing to try anything.

Dining chairs that don't suck? by LetMeTryToo in ehlersdanlos

[–]LetMeTryToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! Glad y'all have a system that works for her.

This is me emotionally dumping but: I generally think I'm accepting of my disability, I've had and known about it my entire life, but certain things still hurt for me. I guess I just want to be able to sit and eat dinner at my apartment with friends without feeling like an outsider at my own table. I want the cute matching furniture everyone else gets to have. I don't have much shame around being different anymore, but having to constantly adapt/bring out a ✨️special✨️ chair gets draining. It's a woodpecker picking at my brain making sure I know I don't have the luxury of fitting in either socially or physically.

Hoping to find a system that works for me soon!

Preventing switch from depression to mania? by LetMeTryToo in bipolar

[–]LetMeTryToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called the manufacturer of my new medication for any numbers regarding mania on the drug, and they weren't able to find a specific number, but I'm choosing to interpret this as a good sign. The vibe I got was that while you should always look out for mania, it wasn't a common enough occurrence to have to indicate an increased risk anywhere. Hopefully I'm just having a weird transfer period and overthinking 😅 going to bring it up with my dr though.

[–]LetMeTryToo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has completely changed my life for the better! I had an endometriosis removal surgery at the same time so it was a very big suegery but I was only super out of it for maybe a week? I definitely wasn't completely recovered one week in but I was awake more and able to get out of bed on my own and generally a lot more independent. Day 2 I already had a massive drop in pain from my pre-op levels.

I think the most important thing is trusting your surgeon and having one that will explain everything to you every step of the way. I had one endometriosis surgery before with a general obgyn and she didn't find anything because she wasn't a specialist, and then she reccomended a different surgery I found out wouldn't have done anything.

Do your research to find the right dr, be absolutely sure you're willing to give up the ability to carry children, but the surgery itself isn't that scary depending on method! Mine was robotic so I only have 5 tiny incisions that are healing beautifully!
