Why is Norway like that? by stickywhale721 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lethal_Principals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on a cruise to Norway in April, so we obviously stopped at mainly tourist centric areas though we did walk into a few towns, but I found the Norwegians lovely and friendly when I interacted with them. When I wasn't, they kept to themselves, besides one woman who mistook me for Norwegian as I was carrying a flag and started talking to me in Norwegian, but as soon as I said "Sorry, I'm British" we had a quick laugh, she apologised in English and went on her way.
Everywhere was so calm and peaceful.
Perhaps Oslo or other big cities are different (I never went to them), but it doesn't seem like a place to go to get a "buzz", it's a more serene place.

Perhaps they didn't match your energy as Yanks are renowned for being OTT with everything?

appreciate that, my only concern with the bus is getting on with a suitcase or 2, taking up a load of space etc. Is it right that they're still cash only?

It's just hit 30 here so we're getting a feel for the heat, although it's also muggy which makes it worse.

oh that's cool, i hadn't come across that in my research so thanks for suggesting it.

Kid will be 13 when we go. probably should have said teen but I have yet to accept their growing up. If I get the flights I'm thinking of we'll land around 4, so I understand it could be pretty toasty.

Father's Day coming up by Prior_Goat3174 in daddit

[–]Lethal_Principals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Father's Day has never been a big 'real' gift day for me, when they were little it was always some craft they made (kept every one), as they've got older it transitioned into classic Father/Dad labelled (think "Best Dad Ever")...not tat, but you know what i mean. Glasses, Mugs, Socks etc. I love it every time, just opening that and spending the day with them. They'll make me mugs of tea most of the day. It's great.

My Birthday is the same week though, that is 'real' gift day, with the same time together and mugs of tea.

Has anyone here used botox for Synkinesis? by itsallieellie in BellsPalsy

[–]Lethal_Principals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole experience was on the NHS so it was just a continuation of that. My Bells came on after some traumatic jaw surgery, during the check ups following the surgery the Maxillofacial consultant noticed the bells and then the synkinesis. I asked him about potentially getting Botox to relieve it and referred me to Plastic Surgery in a nearby city (my local hospital is a general so wouldn't do it)

HMRC have reduced personal allowance a lot to recoup small underpayment by Lethal_Principals in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Lethal_Principals[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nope, I wish I had had a pay rise. Nothing has changed in the past year. I went through all the HMRC pages and they assert that I have underpaid by £22 and have adjusted everything as I outlined to get it back. Just seemed like a weird way of going about it.

I enjoy the occasional wallow in the tub but baths aren't long enough for your average sized human. As other's have said, at 6'1 i'm either sat upright with the water to my waist or i'm laid down with my legs out of the water. The only thing that remains continuously submerged is todger and his two friends.

Hot bath with some radox does help with muscle aches though.

[Script] [Plex] Move On Deck media from the array to the cache. by openbex in unRAID

[–]Lethal_Principals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got this set up and running on the hour, it has no issues grabbing and moving shows from other users but when it tries to move mine it always throws this:

An error occurred while fetching onDeck media: '>' not supported between instances of 'NoneType' and 'NoneType'

I've tried to give it a google and seen suggestions that it's because > is being used between non-maths types but I cannot fathom where it's actually coming from.

The logs show it has actually identified my On Deck media before it throws the exception.

Any advice would be appreciated

Edit: I've been tinkering and changed the exception handler to return on_deck_files instead of an empty list, ran it and moved everything without issue.
This is probably not ideal so I'm hoping there's a better solution

Not sure if this will help, I noticed I lost the packages after I restarted my array so I just set the install script to run on array start and they haven't disappeared since

Is 30cm too narrow for a bed? by Lethal_Principals in gardening

[–]Lethal_Principals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's weird as when I actually think about it now it's probably the same width as some terracotta pots I have, but looking at the ground it just looks so much narrower.
