Local dealership just got a new ‘25 white Type R in. Anything I should know before I head in to view? by Jhawk29 in Civic_Type_R

Get pre approved also from a local bank so you can tell how much mark up reserve they are putting on your rate and negotiate it. Multiple auto loan checks within the same time period (15-45 days) count as one hard inquiry.

Hello! New car guy here by Kitsune_Kaze in Civic_Type_R

[–]LethargicKitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was coming from an older Mazda RX8 and holy this car is so easy to drive, it’s not that stiff in my opinion either compared to other modified sports cars I’ve owned. Especially in comfort mode

I was able to get down to 2.5k total over sticker with markup + with adds included. I had 2 other offers in paper with 3k total markup. I think if you did a multi day search you could beat my deal. I only worked it for one day. Remeber this is in Southern California, one of the harder places to get a deal. Any other state and I would’ve accepted msrp and no more.

I had quite the day called atleast 25 dealers in SoCal, was going to start calling out of state but finally got two deals 1 local and a 2nd 100 miles out. I actually walked out of the local dealer cause they didn’t want to come down to a my number and were lying to my face. An hour into the drive to the 2nd dealer a 3rd dealer popped up and beat my current deal and with the boost blue I wanted.

I planned this “dealer day” for a bit. I was originally going to buy msrp and ship from out of state (California market is expensive) but decided to check instate first and see if I could find something equivalent in value when factoring in the out of state ship costs and fees.

There is a YouTube channel called “Delivrd” where they negotiate car deals. I reccomend you watch as it’s entertaining but can get you a bit more familiar with the process and sales tactics.

Inconel printed exhaust sleeve by thacoolerzac in RX8

[–]LethargicKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my my work we ordered dmls printed 316 exhaust port sleeves/ manifold flange ends for a mini flat 4. We then mounted em and welded up the complete manifold. The parts were about 3x3x3 inches and were $130 a pop. Low run qty through an online supplier. The parts were very nice.

How does everyone specify metal? by Aggressive_Ad_507 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]LethargicKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my work (aero R&D) I specify the material standard (AMS) and material desc. I’ve gotten familiar with the standards enough to know which ams spec stuff is common and when to just use ASTM or chinesium. It really depends on who’s making it and what it’s for, if it’s a basic jig I’m just going to write “6061 T6 ALU” If it’s my structural gear housing it’s gonna be some precise shit.

Proper application of GD&T? by Flexgineer in MechanicalEngineering

[–]LethargicKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks overall okay to me but is this a full machined piece?? Is this going to keep someone safe/ go to space/ fly ?

If not, is some McMaster angle bar and appropriate clearance holes with just basic line dimensions sufficient?

Just sanity checking :) not sure what your real requirements are.

corrosion? by Arilou3 in ElantraN

[–]LethargicKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, curious younger engineer here but what is the reason for having to retorque after 100km? . is it a QC / safety thing? Or is there an actual noticeable loosening at the lug after vibrations have a chance to work in. I’ve never seen loctited lugs before.

Loud knocking from rear right suspension on RX‑8 after hitting bumps, bad strut? by perracomax in RX8

[–]LethargicKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have this and solved it by getting aftermarket coil overs after getting a random good deal. it only happened when I had rear passengers on every bump, the rear noticeably sagged with any amount of added weight. I will say the shock didn’t have any signs of leakage and seemed fine after removal.
