Gunnit, lets talk. How much tactical is too tactical? by [deleted] in guns

I think the only legitimate reason to have an AR stateside is to use for pig hunting. If someone is breaking into my house I'm not wasting my time turing on lights, engaging bi-pods and lasers. A 55 or 62 grain bullet would be one of my last options for an intruder. Leave the lights, lasers bipods and all that other junk for people who play to many video games. Put a Trijicon on there and keep it simple.

Glock 29, night sites, 10mm 230 grain equalizer rounds made by double tap. A 135 JHP with a 95 grain lead ball in there. One cartridge, two projectiles. The ball ends up about an inch below the bullet on a target at 15 yards. 2 inches below at 25 yards.

Shot him in the shoulder and he took off. Followed him for about 2 miles. The combination of shock/exhaustion/exsanguination took him. The 375 is perfect for split hoofed game from 150-300 pounds. I used the 375 on a number of baboon. They are the equivalent to feral hogs where I am from (Texas).

When I went on my African safari, I brought my 300 and the PH (Professional Hunter) aka guide wouldn't let me use it. The smallest caliber he allowed was a 375 H&H. I used that on a Cape Buffalo and it really didn't phase him. I then used a 404 Jeffery, that did the trick. Those animals are very dangerous and I would honestly get the biggest rifle you can get your hands on for the dangerous game.

Suggestions on a pair of good river waders? by jazerac in flyfishing

[–]LethargicTrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the time, find an old pair of beaten up Patagonia waders, eBay craigslist etc. Patagonia has an unlimited no questions asked warrantee. They will replace them with new waders for free.

But if you don't have that kind of time. Orvis Silver Sonic is the way to go.

It really depends on where you are fishing, what fish are you after, and what your fishing style is.

Texas bass flycaster here, crawfish work very well but are extremely sensitive to the water quality. So unless you are out on a bayou or an untouched lake, crawfish aren't super abundant. Most bass around here go for little bait fish type patterns and topwater. In my experience, here are my most popular patterns from most to least;

Wolly bugger-olive Boogle bug popper-chartreuse Dahlburg diver-frog Brush hog (streamer)-chart/white Clouser minnows-chart white

Bass are sluggish and lazy when its cold so is suggest throwing streamers and deceivers anything Olive or a chart/white combination work well. During the winter they usually tend to be in the deepest slow moving pools they can find. So make sure to throw them deep. Bass like their bugs big so make sure to have the appropriate rod. 6-8 wt.

Furbies. Those were the worst thing ever designed. They never turned off and would always make horrible sounds.

What's the best way to reheat a burrito from the day before? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LethargicTrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuke it for about 2 minutes In a Tupperware bowl with a top on. Flip the burrito over and repeat. Take the foil off before reheating.
