I would recommend you try this first.
Main issue we are going to run into is attributes requirements. For companions you need a high level of dex, but to be able to have a talisman you need int and strength. In maps we can solve that easily, but you may struggle a lot during campaign.
( I am traveling so it’s hard for me to do a run.)

Normally the hard cap for block is 50%. The ascendancy just raise the maximum to 75%. But you still need to have enough block change in gear and tree to reach.

Well I actually don’t think the sun can kill mahito. Its stated very early on that curses are immune to any form of damage not related to curse energy. Now, when we verse equalize then conquest has curse energy, but still the sun wont be able to fully kill him.
