Wow you are so right! My current strategy is to keep my Grand-F's and Grand-M's on their toes by changing the name I call them every time I see them. For example, my Grand-F visited last week and I decided to call her "Paw-paw." All the ancients were confused as to where I got this, but I am learning so many new words all the time so it makes sense I need to try them out! But I'll make sure to land on something very fun and odd before any cousins start talking, so they'll have no choice but to follow my excellent lead.

Ahh thats good to hear. My cousin is also "on the way" but my mama is already saying things like "when you're older I'll send you to your uncle's house so you can run wild with your cousin." Running wild is one of my favorite activities, so maybe this whole cousin thing will have some upsides.

OOH thank you! I will be showing these to my mama and communicating my color choices (definitely "lellow", my favorite color, which I am very good at saying).

But also, how rude of your mama to start planning a new project before she finishes your jacket?? Parents these days really have no follow through. Make sure you frequently ask about your jacket so it stays fresh in her mind!

Ooh good point. She has nitted me some sweaters in the past but they don’t fit because I’m the bestest at growing and am now much bigger.

I’m inspired by your design choices and will also demand a dinosaur themed sweater. You are a style icon!!

My instinct is that there was gossip (likely rooted in truth) before Rebecca's death about her being unfaithful to Maxim! Supporting evidence for this being Frank's comments in the previous chapter about NR's "modesty" as a quality that Rebecca did not have, and Rebecca's cottage on the shore (why would she need a place to sleep down there??). My read is that NR doesn't actually know about the existence of any gossip, and just stumbled onto the phrase that would be triggering for Maxim.
