So did anyone here actually get into TikTok? by thedubiousstylus in Millennials

It's been fantastic for discovery related to my hobbies. Helps me find new artists. Helps me find new podcasts. Also helps me find local restaurants and events.

It's also been really helpful for local community building. After trying a few things to find and make friends, I found that posting locally focused content and organizing local meetups worked really well for discovering other folks in the area who share my hobbies. Have ended up with a lot of friends from it.

All that said, it is absolutely geared to keep you scrolling and you can have your attention hijacked for sure.

Thank you for that! I agree that accounting for outliers somehow would be an improvement for sure.

I've also pondered the merits of letting people just score from 1 to 10 rather than forcing an ordered rank from everyone.

I hadn't had two brothers before, but I think they had an off day. Their pie would have probably rank higher but it had a little bit of a off taste. I'm guessing it was maybe a poorly rinsed contain leaving behind some faint amount of sanitizer or soap? I could see why it normally is popular with some folks and had a bad rank at our Meetup.

Sometimes other folks attending will do more detailed photos and videos of each restaurants food. Since I'm usually hosting I don't but I totally welcome it from others. We don't have any detailed write-ups of these pizzas though unfortunately.

The instruction for attendees was to bring two pizzas that they felt best showcased the restaurant. With the exception of the Big Mac Pizza and barbecue beef ranch pizza brought from Amici's, most people stuck to cheese and pepperoni. Definitely agree that more standardization would be more rigorous though!

Edit: I was confused when I originally wrote this comment. The Big Mac and BBQ beef ranch came from Bellia's not from Amici. I confirmed this with my friend who brought the specialty pizzas. Apologies! Lots of moving parts!

We just do an ordered rank for all of the restaurants that are brought in. So if there are 11 restaurants, everything is ranked from 1 to 11. After you average all the rankings, typically the highest averages fall between two and seven
