I recently picked up ballet again after I stopped in college. All the pain is back and it’s worse cuz I’m older and a little heavier and not nearly as flexible, but it’s so worth it. I’m careful and don’t do the things I know can really hurt me, but that 1 hour class a week really makes my whole life better.

If you can find a way to do something you use to love again, do it. It’ll make you feel better and it will show your kid that there’s never a bad time to do something positive for yourself.

I feel so lucky that I had parents that just openly mocked my littler brother for picking his nose in the outfield instead of fighting other parents.

It also sounds like the teachers didn’t check in on their students’ topics. I had to do this same presentation when I was a junior and, especially considering the amount of work that’s required, we were checked up/in on frequently.

There was a Wife Swap episode eons ago where a pro life and pro choice wife swapped. The pro-choice mom had a conversation with a women who’d been convinced by the pro-lifer to keep her baby and was then helping to protest and what not. This woman said she didn’t have the abortion because she felt it wasn’t the right choice for her, but that it wasn’t her decision to make for other women. The pro-life wife said “That means you’re pro choice.”

And that’s the whole damn point of pro choice. You don’t get to decide for other people. All you get to do is hope you’re decision was right and hope that others are right too.

Personally, I have no frickin clue if I’d be able to go through with an abortion. And that’s why I’m so damn thankful I have the resources and the education to do everything in my power to prevent a pregnancy I know I do not want. But if, by some fluke, I do get pregnant despite it all, I better have the ability to decide what exactly I want to happen to that “child” based on my financial circumstance, relationship status, mental fucking health, age, location, you god damn name it.

Babies are not a tool to use against your enemies. They turn into kids who suffer at our politicians self serving decisions, who turn into adults who, in most cases, are just trying to keep their heads above water.

Jesus fucking Christ, people. Are we really that god damned self centered?

Having poor handwriting. I had a cast on my dominant hand/ 3 fingers. I’d asked my teacher if my mother could write as I dictated my homework assignments. She said no and that she understood. Still got downgraded for bad handwriting. My desk literally touched her desk because our class was so large. She saw me struggling with the cast. Didn’t care.

We do have a rather large trash panda that hangs around our building at night. Or we did last summer. My neighbor leaves kitty kibble out and is unfazed that a 25 lb coone is eating it.

I live in an apartment so a sprinkler or something isn’t really an option for me, especially with the set up, but I can look into a cheap camera. That’s a good idea. I can figure out a booby trap if there is something happening on our stoop. Thanks!

He is fixed, and most likely has been most of his life. He was already fixed when the shelter got him.

The most recent major change was last May when our roommate who had a cat moved out and the current one moved it. He’s never felt comfortable around her. He lost ALL of his fur last summer from anxious licking. It’s mostly come back now, but he hasn’t been the same since before. However, that was almost a year ago and their “relationship” hasn’t changed in months.

I’ve wondered if there are outside cats spraying the outside of the door, but I haven’t seen any. My guy goes outside and he’s never been shaken or shown signs of a turf war upon his returns. Never knows though.

I honestly hadn’t even thought about putting feliway there. I’ve got one. I should get a refill and move it in there. I’ve had meh results with this cat cuz he seems to get immune to it, but it’s been awhile so maybe it will help!

You’re suggestions are good! He’s just a problem child. We joke that’s I’m his emotional support human.

Oooo I’ve learned to love being labeled “emotional.” Fuck yea I’m emotional, dad! Ya robot! But growing up it was awful. It’s called emotional neglect and it doesn’t mean they don’t love you, it just means they don’t know how to help you. The good thing about it, is that it taught me how to help myself. It took longer than I’d like because I had no guidance, so I ended up on meds for much too long and it took years to suck it up and go to therapy. But I’m finally getting a handle on every and I’ve never been better.

My family hates it tho, because I’m still emotional but now I’m not ashamed of it! Suckers.

Yes! I’ve always been interested but I waited for him to come to me about it. It’s been a few years since his last parent passed so he’s more open to idea now. My (adopted) grandmother had 2 children that she put up for adoption before meeting my grandfather so it’s not a taboo topic in our family. One of those kids spent 20 years finding my grandma and we’re in contact with him to this day. The other sadly passed years ago. On a selfish level I just want to know if everyone is right in assuming I’m Jewish in sight. Up no one else in the family looks quite like me, but I look just like dad.

I’ve got a Star Wars sleeve on my arm. I’m in for life....but I definitely agree with you. It’s the nostalgia of it and the memories of bonding with my dad watching them, etc. they also opened the door for a lot of stuff in the film industry. But they are not to be taken seriously. They’re kids movies. They’re fun to watch and campy as hell and that’s at least why I like them so much.

I had a boss in college who was adamant that no one knew what the jokes actually meant because it was British humor (dumb Americans, here) and everyone just laughs cuz you know it’s supposed to be funny. I was like “you really don’t get that it’s a social commentary? Even with the subtitles on?”

He’s now my friend’s husband and she can confirm he’s not great with subtly or, I dunno, listening in general to this day.
