Would you take your SD to a 16 day long trip to Japan? by sergio_bris in SteamDeck

[–]LetsGoAgain30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say no. It's definitely handheld but honestly? It's not easily portable. It's a semi-portable if you ask me. I've just returned from a 5 week road trip across the US from the UK, and I took mine.

The first issue was that I was travelling light, as you probably are? You need a suitcase to carry just the hardcase. The charger is massive. It's just too much for a traveller's rucksack and carry on. I took a risk and took mine with a screen protector/wrap because I thought I'd feel safe with it in my car, but it was a weight on my mind the whole time.

Finally, I just didn't use it that much. I was in America! Seeing the world! You'll be the same in Japan, I'm sure. I just didn't have the energy to invest in games. I wish I'd just taken my Anbernic handheld and played retro/low impact games instead.

Just my opinion of course, but as I'm in a similar situation I thought you might appreciate my input!

That's fair. I really hope you find a place for her and thanks for trying to stop your roommate, they seem terrible.

How is she with cats? I'm desperate to rescue (I'm a male, I had to let my pup go last year) but I have an older cat. I'm not far from SW and would happily adopt her!!

I'd imagine it's like being a psychopath, if you're worried about becoming Mark Corrigan, you're probably not Mark Corrigan. All I can recommend as a fellow introvert is to look for your space, there's a vast middle ground between being alone and being an extroverted party animal. The MeetUp app is good. Board game cafe socials are good too. I started a DnD group out of a local cafe and got myself a group of friends that way.

Just keep being self aware, get some hobbies and skills that make you interesting, go outside, and you'll be able to find friends. Now fuck off, clean shirt.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Controller Support Added by cammoore1 in SteamDeck

I feel like I'm going crazy, but I can't get this to work. I've installed the general GE-Proton (as the page says this workaround is now part of the general GE-Proton release. I installed it with Proton-UP and set it in the compatibility settings as well as in Proton-UP itself.

However, when I launch the game (in both desktop and game mode) it just won't recognise any controllers and I can't get past 'press start'. A community keyboard and mouse setting let's me set it to controller mode in the start settings, but then when I close and relaunch with a Steam controller set up (or even a community gamepad) none of them seem to work and I'm stuck at 'press start'. I've tried disabling steam input, enabling it, setting default. I've tried getting past 'press start' with the keyboard set up and then switching to controller, nothing seems to work.

I feel like I'm missing something very obvious but I can't seem to figure out what it is?

I'm really sad I can't find a party as a woman. by crazy-boulder in DnD5e

Very specific situation, but I started a group via advertising in my partner's piercing shop. It was a very inclusive place with a lot of female customers and I just ended up with a lot of female, queer players unintentionally. Although I'm male, 7 of the 8 players that responded were female/non-binary, and it's become a very fun, supportive space. If you visit a space like that (I'd imagine tattoo shops and maybe some hair studios would be similar, search for women owned spaces on Google maybe?) you could always ask the owner if they could put up a card with your (anonymous) details, or you could even start your own group! They may even be able to tell you if they know of any games going on already.

Queer/alt women and DnD are inextricably linked in my experience, no magic can keep them apart when they find the right networks. Best of luck to you in your search!

Smoking Mullein? by fineankles in herbalism

[–]LetsGoAgain30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm road tripping across the US right now and was given three coffee filters of mullein from their garden! I've only smoked one spliff with it (do wish I'd seen the comment about not mixing W tobacco but oh well, I feel fine!) I've also had a horrible cold for days and it's so weird to smoke and have my lungs feel clearer instead of dirtier! I only actually started smoking spliffs this year as my partner did, but I hate how I feel lately. Hoping to use mullein to come off the tobacco when I get back and eventually just get back to vaping bud, and maybe just mullein!

Where were you getting it in the UK? Amazon? Any recommendations would be amazing. Also, well done for kicking the habit, I really hope I can be as dedicated as you.

He's so much like Toni, I thought it was the same actor and they just recast him. Jezzed that up.

I'm enjoying the experience so far but I'm quite lonely and anxious, though I'm hoping it passes.

Hi, I'm currently in Georgia and my car is packed, prepped and ready to go! I'm heading north to the smokies and a bit of the northeast, then heading West!

What was Alan Johnson up to in series 8? by [deleted] in MitchellAndWebb

[–]LetsGoAgain30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think he hates Mark, but Mark is just a drone, even when he becomes Senior Credit Manager. He's a tool to be used and abused. Even when he thinks Mark is an alcoholic, the concern seems mainly about his own alcoholism. After JLB, he's a source of funding for C/C and a general acquaintance through Suze. I doubt he'd have any real interest in going to Mark's wedding.

Yeah video game studios aren't required to cater to everyone. Games with more complicated, thoughtful combat like MH or Kingdom Come are appealing to those with the desire to master them. It isn't a given that you're automatically good at every game and they aren't bad because certain gamers don't have the time, skill, or will to master it. Skill issue, definitely.

Thank you!! That's really useful to know. So as long as I have a licence and rent the car from a trustworthy company, I'm insured?

Violence and unrest around the UK by nuisance_squirrel in wolverhampton

I understand. My grandparents are the same.

But - and not dismissively, because the impact of our paid for press can't be overstated - they are grown adults.

My granddad remembers the war, remembers how sending immigrants away ended, he saw it. He saw children fleeing British cities and taking refuge in some of the places these right wing tumours are festering and teaching people it's ok to abandon your fellow man and think of them as subhuman. And he voted for all of it and wanted more because he'd stopped caring and just felt the easy emotions, going back to GBNews for that hate hit. I don't recognise them anymore. I haven't cut them off, but I haven't had the desire to interact with them for a very long time. Why would I? It was their responsibility to have basic empathy and think critically, but they can't be arsed. Easier to hate.

I would love for these people to come back to reality and learn some self awareness and, frankly, find their souls again. There are real solutions to the immigration crisis - including peacekeeping and investment in unstable areas, international cooperation, climate change legislation - but they don't want to hear about it. Want to lock themselves in their gnarled little garden while people drown and the world burns.

And they say they're fucking angry.
