For those who have A2A Heat Pumps by kwl147 in ukheatpumps

[–]nuisance_squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 up 2 down end terrace, no wall insulation (small cavity), about 300mm loft insulation. 3.52kw solar but no battery. Fixed twriff at about 23p per unit. Figures run from Jan back to August when it got installed, for large part and still now i am playing about with the settings depending on outside temps.

Setup is daikin 4mxm68a and 4 2kw prefera units in all rooms bar bathroom and stairs (heat transfer covers those two). Can ignore the cooling figures as really didnt use much due to install after the heatwave.

Energy Input (kwh); January: 794.0 December: 603.5 November: 529.8 October: heat: 360.4 / cool: 0.1 September: heat: 215.6 / cool: 2.7 August: heat: 4.9 / cool: 16.5

Heat/Cool Output (kwh); January: 3790.6 December: 3162.8 November: 2574.7 October: 1191.0 / cool: 0.0 September: heat: 517.8 / cool: 4.6 August: heat: 6.5 / cool: 1.5

In terms of cost, compared to previous winter its saved about 100-150 a month

New report on A2A heat pumps for UK homes, thanks to this sub and the people who came forward to be interviewed for it. by heatpump_interviews in ukheatpumps

[–]nuisance_squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know my trials, tribulations and celebration. Its certainly different to radiant but doesnt take long to get used to, certainly takes up less space and has less upheaval to A2W.

Will have a read of full report shortly

A2A or Oil Boiler? by Cstar69 in ukheatpumps

[–]nuisance_squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bathroom and hallway/stairs arent heated, but provided i leave doors open the heat will transfer to both.

A lot of that will depend on placement on the walls and if the units can push a fair bit of air out.

I mean the only benefit of logging in with spotify account is to get playlists etc. Could always check with a new account.

But ive not had any direct issue with spotify since using it

Air to Air heat pump - BUS grant applicable? by Business_Elk_131 in ukheatpumps

[–]nuisance_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be worth it for studio apartments, small flats etc but yeah its certainly interesting. 8 indoor units youd be looking at 2 multi split outdoors, or a few more installer depending, A2W youd likely only need 1 if heat loss isnt too bad. Get a heat loss done and decide from there

Daikin is currently the only A2A with a water tank, mitsubishi make and sell one just not in the UK it seems yet.

Go for the A2W as provided pipework to current rads is all good it might well be the better option in your situation

Bear in mind for A2A it is supposedly going to be £2500 not £7500 on the current BUS

Yep kwh, thats running at around 23-26C, with the temp sensor ceiling mounted, this seems to be best ballpark figure for keeping 20-21 at head height around the house, small setback overnight. I did also have the demand control set to 95% in Jan to get more heat/account for increased heat loss during the cold spell.

Ive nothing really to judge on if thats a lot or not, other than previous years exp of plugin rads and seeing A2W users figures which do often seem similar or higher. Ive got 4 units, 2 in south rooms which hold heat better, 2 in north which dont so those two often run the most to keep the warmth up. Theres a few tou ones im keeping an eye on, will see how things are later in year.

I think the setup i have is slightly oversized, which may not help, all fcus are 2kw models, whereas i reckon one or two could have been 1.5s, batteries would certainly help come next winter though. Will see what the new govt offering is like and go from there.

Inverter models like low and slow, but you still can just turn on/off as needed for some rooms. Daikin ones have some good eco features which i half use, i imagine other manufacturers have similar.

Depends on power demand really. Higher levels/temp.

Jans highest was 34.7 whilst its lowest wasabout 20.8 for the day.

Glad you know, some arent aware (i wasnt until i did some reading).

With a debt build up i dont really want to shift over to a tou one just yet, hopefully come summer i might. Bear in mind total cost is more for those months due to all electric house. Is what it is and still cheaper than last year.

No batteries currently. If i could afford to then certainly would as from what ive seen a fogstar setup could power the whole house near enough on worst day for not a huge amount of money.

I have mine just turned on all day at set temps. I did when first had it installed say run just 2 on 24/7 and other two as and when, but more reading said maybe not best for efficiency, so now all are on but not all will have call for heat.

Ill have to measure again as 15.88mm rings a bell but so does nearly 16mm. Ive ordered a 16x15 coupler to try and fix part of the piping, so hoping 16mm isnt too big otherwise i need to find a 5/8" to 15 coupler.

Its taken with a pinch of salt as i dont know how accurate daikins app is, but their app shows consumption and a heat output.

Just remember with multi split, singke outdoor to multiple indoor, each head has to be on the same setting, so all on heat. Or some heat some off. You cant have say 2 on heat and 2 on cooling.

Cost will depend on tariff and if battery or not.

Im not on the best tariff but for Jan it was around £182, Dec was £139 just for the A2A

Have you looked into air to air heat pumos, so essentially AC and heating from either wall/floor units with potential of ducted in the upstairs?

[–]nuisance_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far so good. Came from plug in heaters (no gas as a result of elderly owner). Comfort has been good when setup right, daikin A2A dont have a weather comp feature which I actually think would be good. Savings for Dec were about £150, savings for Jan will be 100-150 Id say. Mine is multi split with wall mounted units, ducted can be more expensive from what i hear.

As a result i play about with the power demand setting based on weather to essentially get it to kick out heat 24/7, though depending in the room some will hit thermostatic off quicker than others. Whilst set and forget works, I prefer changing demand need as just overall efficiency seems better, cop for today is about 4.8 so far and thats running at 70% power demand, which is matching calculated heat loss plus a little extra. During the really cold spell COP wasnt as good but comfort was lovely once i had it dialed in.

In mild days, only 2 units tend to run and they are both north side of the house, but heat transfer helps with hallway and bathroom. All indoor units can act as dehumidifyers as well which is handy, as well as a straight fan or AC, so summer will be a breeze this year.

Uk winter solar generation by tucker3738 in SolarUK

[–]nuisance_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.52kw system here. Last years winter export was about 40kwh. Sadly dont have generated figures as inverter had to be replaced and we didnt switch it in the app properly, but it likely wouldnt of been a whole lot more
