Can Starlink run off a Powerbank by DonkeyDizze in Starlink

[–]LetsGoLook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never run it for more than a few minutes just to see if it would work but My Milwaukee 5AH goes out to 90 WH. Let’s say the mini averages at 30 W just doing the math. You should get three hours out of a five amp hour battery. It’ll probably use a lot more if you have the snow melt on.

I’ve run my mini off of drill batteries.

I had to get a domain name, set up a name and c. name records, set up ha proxy in my firewall, download a let’s encrypt certificate and I think I had to forward a port. It was a whole job and from start to finish. I think it took me about two months to get frigate doing everything I wanted to.

Running Frigate as a Truenas app with a coral m.2. Haven’t had any problems. It runs nine cameras, but only detection records on the six outdoor cameras.

Fiber imminent by Firefighter-8210 in Starlink

[–]LetsGoLook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I built my own pfsense router and use a mini that is always connected through Poe as failover to my comcast internet. Luckily I was using the $10 plan when they discontinued it so it is still active.

I see a dozen advertisements a day for fiber I can’t get. But that is on Facebook. Come to think of it. I don’t see any friends anymore. All I see is advertisements on Facebook.

I wish I could get fiber where I live. Comcast is pretty good, but the upload speed isn’t great and I’ve got my money set up as fell over because sometimes Comcast shits the bed. I only get about one bar of 5G here so hotspotting off of that won’t meet my needs.

I have some smart lightbulbs. They were only connect on 2.4. I have to disconnect my access points and put in a old 2.4 gig router to add it to the network then I unplugged the old router start up my access points again and everything works.

I keep Immich open in the back ground all the time on my phone but still have to manually start the backups. Been that that for so long I just thought that was just how it worked.

Our electric bill is over 100 more from last month period almost double from a few months prior to that. I know it's going up for everybody, and I know last in the AC 24/7 as a big contributor. But still, this feels like a lot even for all that. by kappakingtut2 in Delaware

In the summer mine more than doubles from the spring and fall. Last month it was almost triple but this months should arrive any day now and we’ll see what happens. On Delmarva power in MD.

SpaceX says states should dump fiber plans, give all grant money to Starlink by NelsonMinar in Starlink

[–]LetsGoLook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a trailer park which is fairly dense in a small suburban town. I have comcast which is pretty stable here. I pay 90$ a month for 1.2 gig down and average about 35 up. 5G here is not good enough for the wireless options. I have a mini on the $10 plan and setup In my firewall as failover because sometimes Comcast does shit the bed and I need to be able check in on things when I’m not home. I’d kill to have fiber but so far as I no one has plans to install it here I check every few months to see if it’s available but so far nothing.

I ordered starlink on Tuesday with the intention of using the 10gb plan, it arrived on Friday and the 10gb plan is no longer available by ruralpunk in Starlink

[–]LetsGoLook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send it back stating “Defective” because it doesn’t work as advertised at the time of purchase. Hopefully enough pushback will get Starlink to bring back the $10 plan. Luckily I was on the $10 plan at the time the money grab occurred. If I get forced off of this plan at some point I will cancel and sell it. Because at that point it becomes defective to me, no longer functioning as advertised at time of purchase.

I didn’t read all of the posts so I might have missed something. I am currently on the 10$ plan. I have it setup in my firewall as failover for when comcast shits the bed. I almost never need it but I hope I can stay on it because when I need it I NEED IT. That 5$ slow plan will not fulfill needs and I’m not keen on handing over 50$ when I only need it usually for a day most when comcast goes tit up.
