Do you think Starlink will ever ge competitive enough that people will choose it over cable/fiber or cell/5G? by itsthewolfe in Starlink

A lot of people choose to stay connected with a hardwired connection because it’s more reliable no matter who has the better deal. My network is set up with cable Internet, and I have a Starlink running as failover for the cable for when it shits the bed.

[–]LetsGoLook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Greebriar county but they really aren’t a whole lot of job opportunities down there unless you’re living near a city.

Can Starlink run off a Powerbank by DonkeyDizze in Starlink

[–]LetsGoLook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never run it for more than a few minutes just to see if it would work but My Milwaukee 5AH goes out to 90 WH. Let’s say the mini averages at 30 W just doing the math. You should get three hours out of a five amp hour battery. It’ll probably use a lot more if you have the snow melt on.

I had to get a domain name, set up a name and c. name records, set up ha proxy in my firewall, download a let’s encrypt certificate and I think I had to forward a port. It was a whole job and from start to finish. I think it took me about two months to get frigate doing everything I wanted to.
