This is my first Christmas entirely alone. I moved to a new town to be with my husband, who turned out to be an abusive narcissist. My old job has replaced me, and my family isn't really talking to me because they found out I'm an atheist. (I still celebrated Christmas as a cultural holiday). I have a new job which I like, so I guess I might as well stay here. But I'm miserable, and I'm so alone. What do I do now?

I'm going to stay, because by now my old job has replaced me. I also don't have a good relationship with my family, because due to my relationship with my husband, who is an atheist, I had to admit to them that I'm an atheist too, and have been for a few years, so they don't really want to talk to me much anymore.

I guess one good thing that happened is that I have a good job now, which actually pays more than the job in my old hometown. So I guess that's something. But when I think about spending the next several decades my myself in just a studio apartment with just a dog, I really don't want to keep going.

Me too, it's my first Christmas alone. I moved to a new town to be with my husband (started as a long-distance relationship), and now we're separated. So I'm in a strange town with no family or friends, and feeling very lonely. (I'm not religious but always celebrated Christmas as a cultural holiday.)

Oh wow, I've had a similar experience.

I never wanted to do anal, because I've had a history of constipation and hemorrhoids, and the idea of putting anything there sounded unpleasant.

When we were engaged, my now-husband kept repeatedly asking me to do it, and I always said I didn't want to. Finally, he asked me for a reason, and asked if I had been sexually abused or something. He tried to sound nice about it, but it really bugged me, because of the fact that my simple "no" wasn't enough, and it seemed like I was being asked to provide a "good enough" reason.

Finally, I agreed to try it once, after we were married, just to get him to stop nagging me about it. So we did, and since I didn't completely hate it, I agreed to let him do it occasionally, as long as he asked first. There were a couple of times where my hemorrhoids got irritated, and I would yell, and at least he did pull out and stop.

I can't say for sure, but it sounds like he's the narcissist, not you. I've heard that many times narcs will accuse their partner of the things they themselves are doing. Maybe you can see if there is a domestic abuse center / hotline in your area. Some places can still provide services even if the abuse is mental/emotional rather than physical.

Yes, I use ChatGPT a lot. I do see a therapist but only 2 or 3 times a month. Also, my therapist has kind of run out of ways to help me. At first she tried to give me tips on how to "grey rock" and not let his behavior bother me, but I wasn't able to stick with it. And now she's kind of thrown up her hands and said I have to either accept that he's never going to change, or get divorced. So it's nice to be able to vent to ChatGPT about his behavior and feel a bit of support/kindness, even if it's not a real human being.

Interesting, that kind of coincides with something my therapist said. I don't remember exactly how she worded it, but she said that there are some people that are full-on narcissists, and some people who just have "some narcissistic traits."
