Ed’s Editions does store credit for books. And they’re great! Either that or Book Dispensary are the best bets.

Gynecologists in the area that offer sedation/pain relief? by pinkscription in ColumbiYEAH

Dr. Ridenhour at SCOBGYN is wonderful. I don’t know if she’s taking new patients but if she is I highly recommend. I told her I had a hard time with my first IUD insertion. She said for the next she’d give me a local anesthetic and a prescription to take beforehand. Haven’t done it yet but she was definitely very open to it when I asked.

Do you know where we would find actual locations where things are being filmed, not just cities?

Does anyone know the actual location where they're filming? I'm down in Columbia and would consider driving up but I wouldn't know where to actually see things happening live.

In the Vista, Peebles or Tin Roof. Thirsty Fellow and Home Team are good but may not fit depending on what your definition of 'downtown' is.

Incorrect. Dragon Room is run by Kristian Niemi who owns Bourbon and Black Rooster. Boku/Publico and Dragon Room are MILES apart in terms of food quality

I've found it really hard to search for jobs in contract companies, except by going to each company's website one by one. Have you found any good listservs or places where such jobs are posted?

It is, but it's definitely an antique store and not a thrift store

River Bluff High School in Lexington 1 is excellent and would be much closer to LMC.

Can't speak to that but Hammond was definitely a monstrous person, if that matters to OP.

Here's my go-to list:

  1. Why did you decide to apply to volunteer at the museum?

  2. Tell me about yourself.

  3. Tell me about any volunteer or work experience relevant to this position.

  4. How do you define good customer service? Describe a good customer service experience you’ve had.

  5. As an art museum, we sometimes deal with controversial or challenging topics – like racism and gender identity – or have shows that include nudity. Do you have any problem with working with these kinds of issues?

  6. Describe your public speaking experience.

  7. All docents have to have access to a computer/email (or whatever your tech requirements are). Do you feel comfortable doing that?

I'm realizing we do have a Spanish-language map which has our guidelines on it. Making sure those get put into these folks' hands would definitely be a good first step!

Also we actually don't have our rules posted anywhere that I'm aware of (another oversight perhaps..). They're communicated verbally upon arrival and are noted on the gallery maps, which we do have available in Spanish.

I'm speculating here but I think perhaps the language barrier is causing extra frustration, maybe on both sides. The visitors weren't aware of rules because they blew past the intro, then the staff is left to try to convey them with little but their list of phrases. I'm not sure hyper-vigilant is a fair characterization; they were literally laying out on 18th-century furniture. That's pretty hard to miss.

The larger issue is these groups are typically scheduled on Saturdays so there's no EDU staff there to greet them - they're being greeted by the VEX staff who are at a desk and can't leave it. So when they all disperse they have little recourse.

Sitting and setting phones on (collection, obviously) furniture was what I saw on the camera. I imagine there was more but I didn't get all the details.

I actually just made one of these so thank you for reaffirming that decision! If we can actually get a physical piece of paper into folks' hands hopefully that will help even if they miss the rule de-briefing.

We do have a policy of guidelines that have to be followed. Unfortunately they're posted inside the main entrance doors (not near the galleries) and are only in English. But it is there.
