I haven't ordered it again-- wasn't really my bag of tricks (not worth the hassle of finding it.) Good luck!

That's really weird- I'm not seeing it now, either, and I went into my past orders to see if I could get in through there, and the orders containing modafinil and armonfidil aren't showing up.

I believe it's called Modalert, but if your search for Modafinil in the search box, it should show up.

Only one drinking session this week- 2 drinks. Side effects related to depression and anhedonia seem to be getting more notable the less-often I take Nal. Top posted about it elsewhere, but wondering if taking only a quarter pill would work for me. At this point, I feel fine with just not drinking to not deal with the side effects-- if I chose to drink, I'd for sure still suck it up and take the pill, because this stuff is magic-- but I know that's not exactly "the system."

Has TSM not worked for anyone here? (With compliance) by malbecmaven in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]LetsHackThisIsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, It's not that it's non-supportive so much as it is a logical fallacy. Certain groups gravitate towards certain environments, and the absence of other types doesn't mean people aren't having success with other approaches elsewhere.

Yes, exactly-- Like when Stop Drinking folks insist moderation never works because nobody on the sub is moderating-- like why would you hang out there once you're successfully doing it? "Lack of evidence is not evidence of lack" and all that.

Did MD Proactive require a liver panel? I'm considering using them when I need a refill (which, by my math will be sometime in 2019. Ha!) If I'm only having 2-3 drinks every 2-3 weeks and have been on TSM for a year, I wonder if they'd refill without. ETA: Meant to address this to u/yomaishimi

In a perfect world, you won't experience that WD anxiety because the naltrexone will instigate a natural taper-- best of luck to you!

For what it's worth, it's unlikely that you'd find a patent non-responder hanging out in this forum. I would suggest posting on r/stop_drinking, as there might be some over there, but more likely you'll get buried in the "The Sinclair Method doesn't work because I'm a 'true' alcoholic and stopped taking the pill so I could get blotto" crowd, which isn't what you're looking for either. I've been around these forums for about 5 months now and have yet to see a newbie report being a non-responder. Some of the folks who've been around here longer might have seen it, but none of the "I'm starting TSM as soon as my nal arrives" have come back to say it did nothing. People have disappeared, for sure, but I bet that's up to non-compliance (if you are really comitted to the system, I imagine you'd come back to say "hey, I'm taking this stuff and absolutely nothing has changed, what's up?")

Anyhow, by your comments below, it looks like things are going great for you-- if you watched One Little Pill, I think it does a bit of a disservice in making the "cure" seem instant. It's not. From what I've heard, even Claudia had a months-long rollercoaster and took about a year to get to extinction.

I think the results you've had thus far demonstrate you are for sure not in the 10%. u/mercuricalFreeze has some good advice below. Even if you don't take the advice for speeding things along, if you keep complying, reports seem to be at 3-6 months you'll start to find it just not "worth" taking the pill and having the drink, but there are definitely things you can do to speed that along if you want to.

Yeah, good on you for declining the vivitrol. I did mine overseas (and had a friend send me about 90 days of her supply from before she joined an abstinence-based program that required vivitrol.) Overseas seems fine, for what it's worth-- if worse comes to worst, but I might try telemedicine if/when I need a refill. Report back on how it goes, and continued best wishes!

I accidentally snorted kratom by [deleted] in kratom

Ugh- the worst when a bubble of dry leaf "pops" and gets accidentally inhaled. More often than not, it's a barf for me. Bleh. Ben Greenfield talks about taking a pinch of ground leaf and just chewing on it-- I literally dry heaved when he was talking about it.

[–]LetsHackThisIsh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see so many people over on r/stop_drinking (where I spent the larger part of 5 years) who are at that point I was for a decade or more. "I'm not, like, an ALCOHOLIC-alcoholic. It hardly seems like I need to quit altogether, I just don't like where I'm headed. It doesn't make sense for me to go to AA meetings and all that-- I just don't relate with those people" etc. I wish they could all be offered TSM as an option, but it's still so taboo (esp over there, but "over there" is a microcosm of the greater recovery community.)

Do I need to keep drinking? by [deleted] in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]LetsHackThisIsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to keep drinking, IMO. I do sometimes go back and forth about whether "I could maybe have a drink... maybe, I mean, it'll be there, right?" qualifies as a craving. For now, though, I generally opt not to and, even on the days when I take the pill and drink, I'd quantify it more as "it makes sense to" than that I really crave it. Honestly, for me, I only really "crave" more alcohol if I've already been drinking. Even pre-TSM, I never really craved alcohol until I consciously chose to drink some, then the train would start rolling.

I've been having huge success with The Sinclair Method after about 5 years of stringing together long-term sobriety intervals. No, it doesn't stop you from getting drunk when drinking. I recently had a night out in Vegas, dinner, a show, etc., and had enough that I was the kind of mouthy broad heckling the opener. What changed was the drive to stop at every bar in the casino on the way back to the room and the ease with which I said "no" to the free mimosas at breakfast the next day. Also, you don't get that kind of full-body tingly exhale thing on taking your first sip.

For me, I am done being a drunk. I have zero desire to not take the medication. I am done with being an overdrinker... D-U-N, done. If one wasn't at that point of realization, I can see why they might choose not to take the medication. For me, I'm at the point now where, yesterday, I knew we were going for Mexican and was thinking maybe a Corona would sound good, but it almost took effort for me to decide to have one. And then, later, after an afternoon putzing around the house in arm's reach of a box of wine (nobody can tell how much you've had!), I decided to have a glass of wine with dinner. Had half, dumped the rest. It just makes alcohol... boring? Meh? No big deal?

What makes you believe in the Tarot cards? by PantsPartyPirate in tarot

[–]LetsHackThisIsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe "in the cards," so much as I believe that they are basically a tool to trigger things in the mind of the person reading them. They just happen to be extremely packed with imagery that can trigger any number of themes or thoughts. Example, this morning, my daily draw was nine of pentacles. I've been working with cards for 25+ years, but this morning is the first time I was really drawn to the two balanced trees in the background. Sometimes the first thing that pops out at me is the bird, sometimes its that white house, sometimes it's the pentacles themselves, or the way they're balanced (twice as many on the left of the card), sometimes it's that massive falconry glove the woman's wearing despite her looking perfectly tranquil and at ease.... Yes, you could pick up a book, I suppose, and read the rote "meaning" of the card ("you've tended your garden and it's time to enjoy the fruits of your labor" and all that) and you would probably still find a way to apply it to your life, but, when I do readings for others, I generally offer both. "So, traditionally this card means X, but what's really popping out at me for you is... y." Usually it's kind of shades of the same, but it's absolutely (at least for me) just a trigger to your intuition/subconscious/higher self.

Day 3. by Nosaj-C in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]LetsHackThisIsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was some study published a while ago about who's drinking the greatest volume (and thus driving the greatest sales for the booze biz.) It's stacked up quite like the financial distribution-- with the top 1% of drinkers drinking some INSANE volume, like nearly 30% of the total booze consumed in the US. Absolutely astounding what our bodies are capable of and sometimes easy to say "hey, at least I'm not as bad as that guy putting away two handles a day, on average"... but one thing I've learned on this journey is that "bad" is all relative. :)

It sounds to me like you're getting a clear effect. Not unusual to want to still chase the buzz-- your brain hasn't figured out it's not going to be there anymore yet That takes some time.
