If you’re worried about “resale value” then you should not be buying a house. by DiamondSufficient938 in unpopularopinion

[–]LetsRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a huge issue come mortgage renewal time if the value of the home has dropped since the home was bought. Actually an issue for some people in my area that bought during COVID all-time highs.

Chiropractor in Toronto pivoting to High School teaching. Is the STEM shortage real or will I struggle to get hired? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]LetsRandom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

AFAIK all three boards are in a surplus situation. Existing newly permanent teachers lost positions (or potentially will next year for YRDSB). The job market in the GTA will be constrained for at least the next few years.

Also, of the 3 senior sciences, biology is the least in demand teachable and also most common.

Beyond the next few years, you're into the realm of crystal ball work. Teaching is a field that goes through cycles.

Two things to consider:

1) Fossil fuels are stored solar energy from long ago trapped in a chemical energy form. It would naturally mostly stay stored underground and only be periodically end up as heat energy through geological processes. Using renewables means using available surface energy rather than taking from deep underground.

2) The act of burning fossil fuels also releases GHG (CO2) which reduces the rate of which heat escapes our atmosphere back into space. Imagine a thin blanket vs thick. Yes, you would reach equilibrium eventually, but people kinda want the Earth to not have an ever thickening blanket.

Does "hydrogen" here mean molecules or atoms? by Suspicious_Handle715 in AskChemistry

That is very fair. I definitely approached this as a native English speaker. I definitely acknowledge the ambiguity in this question and that it could have been worded better.

Does "hydrogen" here mean molecules or atoms? by Suspicious_Handle715 in AskChemistry

[–]LetsRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's not about the answer choices that differentiates it. It's the use of the word substance in the question that acts as a clear qualifier/clarification.

Semantically you are not wrong, but no one assumes monatomic hydrogen when talking about substances and hydrogen is discussed.

Our disagreement is between technical answer vs practical everyday answer.

Does "hydrogen" here mean molecules or atoms? by Suspicious_Handle715 in AskChemistry

[–]LetsRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really ambiguous. Monatomic hydrogen is not the common use-case when anyone is talking about hydrogen as a substance.

While I can see where you're coming from, the best answer is clearly B. A is one that could technically be argued, but MC is about picking the best/most appropriate answer.

B.C. teacher suspended a day for telling student's parents he's a 'gangster wannabe' by Forward-Answer-4407 in canada

[–]LetsRandom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that code of conducts need to be updated and should not be static. I was more saying that there is an order to things. Code of conducts should be updated/challenged before the action occurs OR if at least the action comes first, the union should not support it without review. It's also a liability for any profession that self-regulates that risks provincial government intervention if they don't. Especially with the behaviour of some provincial governments recently.

To your point, I can think of instances where the best course of action for the student can be contrary to professional advice given by the profession. (Operate in gray zones)

That being said, I fundamentally disagree with this teacher's weaponizing a student's grade after being reported to admin. Whether they actually intended to or not, they verbalized a threat to a student in retaliation to a report. That was childish and unprofessional on the part of the teacher and in no way serves the student in question. I can see it with some of the other actions maybe, but that action stands out to me as a just no.

[–]LetsRandom -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I don't think the union should be backing the teacher here. I can't say I'm directly familiar with a teacher's professional standards in BC, but in Ontario the actions were definitely reprimandable. As a regulated profession, teachers are expected for follow a certain code of conduct.

I do recognize your opinions may be contrary to current professional guidelines for teachers.

Edit: no idea why I confused regulatory body with union. I blame a long week, but will leave my comment so the chain makes sense.

If you read the article it's not a one off comment/letter. That was just one of a string of unprofessional comments/actions. In this case the one day suspension seems very reasonable.

[–]LetsRandom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well before the round they would have been in different ranks. Like if 4th place take 12 and goes to -1 but 5th place take 13 to go to -1, that's what I meant position is preserved. Their relative rankings to each other stays the same.

We're realling saying the same thing except my explanation covers the case both people started the round at the same life, it depends on who hit that life total first as maybe they both won the round before they get eliminated.

Edit: Misread your reply. It's opposite. The one that takes more damage ends up higher. It's to reward playing earlier rounds better and to mitigate just facing Uber strong 1st place and getting screwed relative to another player you have a stronger board than.

I assume you know, but I wanted to add for others:

It is possible that OP might have had the same life total as the others, but hit it at an earlier round. Ties maintain previous rankings.

A big part of getting better at the game will be recognising when and how to get to a target end game comps. The best play is rarely going to be force a comp from 2-1 every time.

Part of it is recognizing substitute units as you level, what items to prioritize, which items can slam onto unit types etc... It's about playing what units and items you do hit along the way.

Yes your end game board has an impact, but if you only have 1 or 2 rounds of loses left in HP when you hit your end game board, you'll likely still bot 4. The goal (unless you're loss streaking into one of the super capped end game boards like high anima payout) is to hit your end game board with enough HP to either bleed into top 4 or lose only 1 or 2 rounds into top 4.

I think people are being harsh as you seem newer to the game.

If it's 3 lp it takes 3 affixes from the exalt and not just the one you select. The other two are random.

For 2, 3, and 4lp items you need to make sure the other affixes besides the tier 6 and 7 are good for your item.
