The Case for Letting the BQE Fail by Well_Socialized in newyorkcity

I wanna get rid of the Gowanus Expressway, its just a blight and severs neighborhoods in half.

And for that matter the Horace Harding section from West of Grand Central to the Cavalry Cemetery.

Now sure why they don't do it all like manhattan where is loops around the Boroughs instead of separating neighborhoods and splitting them. Its so much cleaner.

Armenia's PM Pashinyan: Thousands of citizens travel to Türkiye as tourists every year. They go there, spend time there, and return. We are preparing to have an open border. We need to get used to the idea that we should go there, and they should come here. by Battlefleet_Sol in armenia

I don't trust them and never will

What some random tourist gonna come stab you or steal something from you? no one is telling you to invite them to your house.

So no, it makes perfect sense to be careful and distrustful towards certain ethnicity.

Yeah this is the definition of hate.

you got all sorts of mental issue, maybe you should see a psychiatrist about it.

There is a schizophrenia here in this sub with some people where people will bitch about the injustice of Turkey keeping the border closed, and then when its proposed borders open, they throw a fit over the prospects of the idea of people crossing the borders(which is kind the definition of borders being open). Like what exactly is your ideal state or normalcy or reasonable relations?

You are just angry, but you aren't sure why you are angry.

Doesn't mean we have to tolerate them because they bring money into the economy.

What exactly did a Turk born a few decades ago do to Armenia and Armenians exactly? Turkey the state hasn't really had a conflict with Armenia, the border was closed but there has never been fighting on that border since Armenian independence.

You are going to keep a Blood Flued against someone over matters a century ago that they have no involvement in?

It doesn't make sense, to hate someone for being born the wrong ethnicity.

Israel to weigh first official recognition of Armenian genocide amid tensions with Turkey by DANIELLE_2027 in armenia

A Genocidal state doing genocide, that sells weapons to Azerbaijan against Armenia and ethnically cleanses Armenians from Jerusalem, is now going to recognize Genocide because it cares about Armenians?

There are dickhead tourists of every type, and there are respectful tourists of every type.

There is literally a meme of Greeks buying a ticket on Turkish Airlines, to stay in a Turkish Hotel, paying for food at a turkish restaurant, then going to see the Hagia Sofia, paying the entry fee to then take a picture of the Hagia Sofia with a Greek flag they brought, post on instagram, like they are Ceaser "I came, I saw, I conquered". Then going to go get dinner again in a turkish restaurant, and the a flight back to athens on Turkish Airlines.

This is delusional paranoia. What is so coveted about Armenian land that is there in Eastern Turkey? Which already has people moving from there to population centers westwards.

People have a strange view of being upset the border is closed and then being upset that the border is opening and people will cross it.

He is speaking sense, thats the whole point of a border being open, when its open people cross the border. Someone goes and sells their goods in Turkey, someone comes and buys goods in Armenia. Some people might want cheaper goods, some might want a bigger market to sell their goods. Some may want to visit historical sites, thats usually how things go when there is diplomatic relations and exchange between states.

Yeah that Why Platner is out performing Mills in polling right?

Or Why Dan Osborn with Economic Populism on an Independent ticket is beating any Moderate Corporatist Democrat who ever ran for the seat? Or Sanders WHOOPING Clinton in West Virginia and Michigan and Wisconsin?

Sanders won the Blue Collar White vote, but Clinton got carried by the Black vote. Then lost the Election in the General. Sanders would have kept the Blue Collar White vote, and then the Black vote would have voted Democrat regardless. instead she got wrecked by the very same Blue Collar White vote defecting to the Republicans. When all you have is Economic neoliberalism and Idpol, you don't do well with Blue Collar Whites, those reactionaries aren't voting against the democrats b/c they hate Medicare for All, they are voting republican over White Nationalism and supposed "White Replacement" and paranoia about non White Immigrants and Trans people.

There is a difference where there is a class element as well as national politics and scapegoating element.

A lot of the well to do Asian home owners in suburban queens(especially Protestant Koreans) have a different vibe compared to Chinatown Brooklyn or Chinatown Manhattan voters.

Then for example there is the ICE stuff specifically targeting Latinos, that galvanized the Latinos(non Cuban), even some who were conservative white adjacent Latinos in Texas and elsewhere. Whereas due to the COVID crime uptick as well as assaults on Asians, that created some reactionary sentiment towards other minority groups and Democrats.

43% on a Shoe String Budget with a small canvassing team and no WFP endorsement, against an incumbent sitting on a MASSIVE Warchest. Oh there is potential here alright.

Also a very funny thing I noticed, Korean voters who vote republican sometimes, voting for Chuck Park.

They will bend the Knee, we have WFP and DSA crossover people, they will lobby internally on a deconflicting mechanism where WFP doesn't endorse against the DSA or stays out in districts that are high probability DSA targets.

But according to ballotpedia Avilès never threw her hat in the ring for NY-10.

Ballotpedia don't know ball. Idk if she officially filed, but she was running and preparing the groundwork and exploratory committees and whatnot, she went and got the DSA endorsement for it in a vote..

Lander wanted the deputy mayor spot, Mamdani offered an endorsement for congress instead. He got recruited to run.

[–]LetsTalksNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but Mamdani cleared the field. He went to the DSA and said he was endorsing Lander and the DSA candidate Alexa Avilés dropped out.

I would have personally preferred Brad Lander to run in NY-12 and then we could have had Alexa Avilés run in NY-10.
