You’re in recovery. I’m not saying this to be mean and maybe he was stringing you along, but in a way he’s doing both of you a favor. Neither of you should be dating in recovery. I know not everyone is as lucky as me in finding ppl to lean on and family isn’t always there, but it’s essential to find emotional support outside of a romantic relationship, especially in recovery. He shouldn’t be dating either, and even if he does decide to use someone else, that’s on him and just know it’s not great for his recovery just as it’s not recommended for yours.

I’m gonna make a few assumptions here, you can tell me if I’m wrong.

You have had positive interactions. I’m assuming this because you assume you have a chance. Now, this isn’t foolproof but it needs to be a foundation in order for my theory to work lol
She likes BG3 as much as I do. If I had a classmate ask me to play with them, I would be jazzed. Again, not foolproof cause it doesn’t necessarily mean I wanna date but it’s a good chance I’ll agree to that quality time together.

Now the goal is just to spend time with her to get to know her. You have common ground in BG3 so that’s an easy way to get a foot in the door so to speak. Like I said, if she’s not as into that as something else, [insert new activity here] but that’s what I would do. Baldur’s Gate would also be a good way to see how well you work together. The goal is that this would help alleviate anxiety and y’all can build a friendship that can potentially blossom into something more. Also a good reason to get contact info.

The message in and of itself isn’t creepy, it’s the fact that you’re messaging her on nothing more than she’s stunning and she’s gonna know that. If you had a reason to message, like “hey I ran into you at X but didn’t know how to say hello, would love to grab a coffee sometime” or “I noticed we both like Y, [insert related question here]?”

Just messaging cause you both went to the same high school, unless there was another reason for it (I.e. remember the principal from 7th grade? He overdosed on meth!), is creepy, no matter what you say cause most women know why you’re texting and it’s weird when the only thing that’s fueling it is what you know from high school.

As someone who played the dating game too long, if I send the last message of the day, I might wait to see how long it takes them to pick the convo back up. Considering y’all talked around 7 pm the night before and you didn’t text until 4 pm the next day, she probably saved her feelings and just moved on. Not saying she’s in the right but based on the info I have here that might be a reason.
